7. The Engineer shall process the obtained information to create a surface model through
a triangular irregular network (TIN) of the survey limits and produced a CAD drawing
depicting existing conditions.
B. Geotechnical Investigation and Evaluation
Earth Exploration Inc. (EEI) shall conduct a geotechnical field investigation at key
location within the project limits. This includes a total of seven (7) soil borings
summing to a depth of 410 feet.
2. EEI shall perform the appropriate laboratory testing including visual soil classification,
hand penetrometer readings, moisture content and grain size analysis.
3. EEI shall prepare a technical report which will include a summary of findings and
recommendations for geotechnical consideration for a proposed repair(s).
4. EEI shall coordinate with the City and property owners it gain access to their boring
location which will be determined once the project commences.
C. Schematic Design Process
The Engineer will coordinate and conduct an early coordination meeting with the
applicable regulatory agencies which will include the Army Corp of Engineers
(ACOE), Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), and the
Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The goal for this meeting will be to learn of
any regulatory constraints and concerns prior to progressing with potential design
alternatives. LFA will prepare and distribute minutes from the meeting.
2. The Engineer will develop up to three (3) design alternatives to stabilize the slope and
adjacent area with the noted project limits. The alternatives will consider:
a. Project Cost
b. Consttuctability
c. Regulatory agency considerations.
d. Material to be utilized
e. Site Access
f. Environmental impacts
g. Sustainable solutions
3. The Engineer will prepare preliminary plans for each alternative that will include plan
sheets and critical typical sections.
4. The Engineer will develop a preliminary estimate of probable cost for each of the
alternatives.
5. The Engineer will prepare a Schematic Design Package documenting the process and
presenting the alternatives also including the preliminary drawings, estimate of probable
cost, and benefits and disadvantages for each alternative. This package will be submitted
to the City for review.
- wage 3
(ExhibitA — Engineer's Services)
EJCDC E-500 Agreement Between Owner and Engineer for Professions Services
Copyright © 2008 National Society of Professional Engineers for EJCDC.
