Staff believes
purchasing these properties from the tax sale
will allow for lower costs in the acquisition
process.
Both properties have been appraised. The
combined average appraised value for both
properties is $33,300.
Since these properties are already on the
acquisition list, staff requests approval of
Resolution No. 2840, authorizing staff to
take the necessary steps to register and bid on
these parcels, in a not to exceed amount of
$33,300.
Upon a motion by Ms. King, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION No.2840
Mr. Downes and unanimously carried, the RELATED TO ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY IN THE
Commission approved Resolution No. 2840 AIRPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UREA.
(TAX SALE PROPERTIES 709 W.INDIANA AND
related to acquisition of property in the 1527 S.KEMSLE)
Airport Economic Development Area. (Tax
sale properties 709 W. Indiana and 1527 S.
Kemble)
(2) Administrative Settlement for acquisition
of 1502 S. Chapin St.
Mr. Relos noted that the Uniform Relocation
Act (Act) authorizes an administrative
settlement in cases where an additional
payment is necessary to acquire and gain
clear title to a property. On September 17,
2010, the Commission approved Resolution
No. 2764, authorizing the purchase of 1502
S. Chapin for its average appraised value of
$21,500.
Staff has been working with the property
owner, within the acquisition and relocation
sections of the Act, to reasonably reach an
agreement to acquire this property.
22
