P � ro y e r q ro u p <br />]()(.-y.�(hor, Will <br />July 3, 2018 <br />Ms. Sue Ellen Doudrick <br />Assistant City Engineer <br />City of South Bend Engineering <br />1316 County -City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />RE: Flood Damage Repairs — East Batik and East Race Repairs Project Number 118-305 <br />Fee Proposal for Design Services for Design -Bid -Build Project <br />Dear Ms. Doudrick <br />18083-00 <br />The Troyer Group (17G) hereby presents a fee proposal to the City of South Bend Board of Public Works to <br />provide professional design services on repairs to the East .Bank Riveiwalk and East Race associated with recent <br />flood damage in South Bend, Indiana. <br />Project Description: <br />We have visited the project site ,u►d coordinated with City representatives on the Scope of Work to be conducted. <br />We understand that this project involves repairs to the East Bark Rivetwalk and East Race associated with recent <br />flood damage in South Bend, Indiana. Funding for these repairs will be through FEALA. <br />East Bank Riverwalk: <br />F.",is ing Conditions. <br />An approximate 15 ft. diameter by 17 ft deep sinkhole has formed directly under an overlook node of the East <br />Bank trail just southwest of the LaSalle Street bridge. At the bottom of the sinkhole is ari old underground <br />structure. Per existing plans this structure is an abandoned wood conduit. Per City personnel, flood waters never <br />got to the height of the sink hole opening. <br />Pto'ect De wifiort. <br />The project is needed to maintain the stability of the east batik and its trail. Recommendations are as follows. <br />• Conduct dye testing of existing wooden conduit structure to try, and determine its outlet. Testing to be <br />conducted by the City and witnessed / analyzed by Troyer Group. <br />• Conduct a geometric model of the wooden structure at the opening to the sink hole. <br />• It conditions allow, perform a video inspection along the length of the existing wooden conduit. <br />• Coordinate findings with City and County (LaSalle Bridge) <br />• Coordinate with adjacent property owner for access during construction. <br />• Fill sink hole with flowable fill to agreed upon limits <br />• Replace existing outlook node in kind. <br />Field Survey: <br />A topographic survey is not anticipated <br />ft comes down to people acid their experiences I Tope-t cr, We- Will <br />550 Union St, I Mishawaka, M 46544 � p 574.159,997E 1 www,troyergroup.corn <br />
