MEETING January: 6', , 1936 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, <br />January 6, 1 9:00 A. M. All members were present. <br />.,- , Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Requisitions numbers 08791 to 08813 were approved. Claims, from <br />the following suppliers in the amount of $676.35 were approved by the <br />Board and ordered paid, also-payrolls of the various departments for <br />the first half of January amounting to $16,951.39. <br />Holycross & Nye.Company $588.85 <br />Lontz Bros 30.00 <br />Arthur L. Liller & Son 27.50 <br />G. 0. Thurn for J. N. Hunter 30.00 <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present: <br />Mr. Qualls made a report of the fire alarms handled during the <br />month of December, also comparative statement covering the last ten <br />years. This report is on file in the office of the Board of Public <br />Safety. <br />Mr.• also made a report of the fire alarm fluctuation <br />month by'm-onthAfor the full year of 1935, showing still alarms 644, <br />box alarms 380, total 1,024 alarms for the year. This sketch is on <br />file in the office of the Board of Public Safety. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: <br />The Chief submitted to the Board the fiftieth annual report of <br />the Fire Department since the installation of paid department. This <br />report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Safety. <br />The Chief also made the following recommendations for improve- <br />ments in the department for future consideration: <br />(1) That a new Fire Station be built in the vicinity of Miami <br />Street and Ewing Avenue. <br />(2) That an addition be built to No. 10 Fire Station and to <br />install service truck for.the south section of the City.' <br />(3) The purchase and installation of 8 new fire alarm boxes - <br />5 for the business district and 3 for the outlying section <br />of the City. <br />(4) A I hose tower be built for the drying of fire hose for No. 9 <br />Fire Station. <br />(5) That an addition be built to No. 3 Fire Station whi,ch would <br />facilitate operations and enable No. 3 truck from Central <br />Station to be removed to No. 3 Fire Station to answer alarms, <br />in River Park and the northern part of the City. <br />(6)' That a new Fire Station be constructed.for No. 2 Engine <br />Company which is now located on property belonging to the <br />Studebaker Corporation and that this new Station should be <br />located in the vicinity of Prairie Avenue and Sample Street. I <br />The Chief's full report is on file in the office of the Board of <br />Public Safety. <br />The Chief also submitted a report for the year 1935 showing the <br />number of runs made by each Hose Company an aggregate of 3,412, the.- <br />number of miles travelled a total of 6,8 number of feet of hose <br />used in each case, number of gallons of chemical used and number of <br />feet of ladders used. This report is on file in the office of the <br />Board of Public Safety. <br />The Chief further submitted a report for the year 1935 giving a <br />list of the persons who were burned or injured and received aid from <br />the department.
