All of,the fire hose to be shipped in 50 Pt. lengths, coupled <br />with Elkhart Slidewell Couplings and stamped,S.B.F.D,.and the date. <br />The Chief reported that he had taken up with the Secretary of <br />the-Board of Health the matter of the use of tannic acid for burns, <br />as outlined in the previous meeting, and that he had received his <br />recommendation for its use. The Board authorized the chief to purchase <br />one outfit at this time and if found entirely satisfactory to purchase <br />an additional outfit later in the year. <br />The Chief brought up the question of blankets used in the various <br />.hose houses and stated he would like to have the name South Bend Fire, <br />.Department woven into the blankets - on new blankets as well as some <br />.recently purchased blankets that had not . been distributed. The Board <br />instructed him to ascertain the cost of this for later consideration. <br />The Chief brought in a report, as requested by the Council at a <br />previous meeting, in reference to recommendations made by the National <br />Board of Underwriters in the 1932 Report, as Councilman William S. James <br />had requested information as`to which of these recommendations had been <br />complied with. The report is on file in the office of the Board of <br />Public Safety together with a,report on the recommendations by the Water <br />Department and the Electrical Department. <br />.POLICE DEPARTMENT - Chief Lane present: <br />-Various matters pertaining to the Police Department were discussed, <br />but there being nothing of.,importance, no action was taken. The Chief, <br />however, stated that he would report to.the Board at the next meeting <br />the'ehanges in the personnel of the Department that. would be made in <br />.view of the change recently made in the Assistant_ Chief of,Police <br />Police application of Casimir Dembinski was received and ordered <br />placed on file. <br />The meeting adjourned at '11:00 A. 1. <br />Cc_et,chairman <br />ATTEST: Clerk <br />
