MEETING July 8, 1935 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />July 81 1935 at 8 :45 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of regular meeting of July lst were read and approved. <br />Requisitions bearing numbers 08538 -to 08558, inclusive, were approved by <br />the Board. Claims in the amount of 746.08 were presented and approved. Also <br />payroll in the amount of $16,759.64. Claims are represented by the following <br />suppliers: <br />Indiana &c Mich. Electric Co. $45.68 Gafill Oil Company 016.75 - <br />Indiana &c Mich. Electric Co. 15.50 Gafill Oil Company 333.03 <br />Taylors Service Stores 7.27 No. Ind. Public Service Co. 38.24 <br />South.Bend Clean Towel Service 1.00 South Bend Electric Co. 17.58 <br />G. E. Meyer &c Son, Inc. .15 Ind. Paint &e Wallpaper Co. 185.00 <br />G. E. Meyer &e Son, Inc. .72 Recreation Equip. Co. 1.50 <br />Gafill Oil Company 14.95 Business Systems Inc. 11.00 <br />Gafill Oil Company 34.20 Office Engineers, Inc. 3.25 <br />Gafill Oil - Company 20.26 <br />A letter from the General Fire Truck.Corporation of St. Louis, dated <br />July 6th, to City Attorney Edwin W. Hunter, also the telegram of July 7th <br />reading as follows, were received: <br />"Since,dis ussing apparatus with Engineers have obtained factory 0. N. to <br />proVe'd centrif4ai }dump as1 - preferred also extra booster and priming pump <br />giving us highest mechanical rating of all bidders at considerable price saving. <br />- "Hope we have your support. Thanks. retails in letters following.' <br />General Fire Truck Corp. C. T. McGraw <br />These communications were ordered placed on file and were ordered commun- <br />icated to Mr. James., <br />FIRE.�EPARTMENT - Chief Freeh present: <br />`Vatters in general pertaining to his department were discussed. , <br />In reference to the transfer of the police boat, the Chief was <br />instructed to confer with the Chief of Police with reference to equipment <br />rhich might be required in the operation of the police boat and to supply the <br />Police Department with such equipment when necessary. <br />Application for position as fireman was received from Frank Papezynski. <br />CTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Qualls present: <br />Mr. L. Salisbury,of 614 forest Avenue, Mishawaka, was present and requested <br />1,h. e, privilege of repainting the antennan- at the Alarm Station and removing the <br />alupminum paint, which was referred to Mr. Qualls for investigation and further <br />Mr. Qualls, in a communication to the Board, stated his department is now <br />.reparing traffic signals for the Western Avenue and Walnut Street intersection <br />57 miler: the Railroad and that the cost for signal 'operation would be $13.80 <br />©r a total of $55.20 per year for the intersection to be paid from the street <br />light"ng fund. This met with the approval of the Board and Mr. <br />3nstrueted Qualls was <br />to proceed. <br />.POLICE DEPARTMENT Assistant Chief Hamilton present: <br />Matters pertaining to the Police Department were discussed and the <br />Assistant Chief made monthly report for June, showing number of crimes committed <br />''or the month of sixty -six and the number of arrests made one hundred forty six. <br />➢etsl of this report is on file in the office of the Board of Public Safety. <br />The Assistant Chief presented a report from the Superintendent of the <br />dater Works giving information regarding automobiles now being operated by <br />the Police Department and being kept in repair by the Water "Works and indi- ` <br />eating the cars that should be replaced with new cars during the year 1936. <br />:'The following is a list of these cars: <br />Make Number Model Speedometer Reading <br />Rockne 2 1932 65 43924 <br />Rockne 4 1932 65 70964 <br />Rockne 5 1932 65- 65893 <br />Studebaker 8 1931 54 84925 <br />Ford 11 1932 B 70012 <br />Ford 13 1.932 B 64760 <br />Ford 12 1930 A 56984 <br />
