<br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held June 24th at
<br />8:30 A. M. All members were present.
<br />Minutes of meeting of June 17th were read and approved.'
<br />Requisitions bearin numbers 08525 to 08529, inclusive, were approved.
<br />Claims in the amount of 71.58 from the following suppliers were approvedand
<br />ordered paid. Payroll for the last half of June was also approved and ordered
<br />paid amounting to $16,926.60.

<br />The Board informed bidders, who were all present, that they will take, this
<br />matter under advisement and inform them of a time when their representatives
<br />could meet with engineers selected by the Mayor to go over the details of their
<br />s.
<br />construction and determine upon the pumper most suited for the City's needs.
<br />The matter of medical and surgical expenses in the Fire Department were
<br />discussed with the Chief who outlined his understanding of the duties of the
<br />City Surgeon in connection with sick firemen and those who meet 4ith accidents
<br />while on duty. His understanding of previous custom, he said, was that in the
<br />-case of sick firemen, Police Surgeon called upon them as soon as the matter was
<br />reported to him and that the patient paid all the expenses of his illness and,
<br />that his last duty was to make..a final call before the fireman returned to wo ,•;
<br />In the case of accidents, he stated his understanding was that the City was
<br />,. liable for the expense involved.
<br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT Mr. Qualls present:
<br />Matters pertaining to the operation of his department were discussed and,
<br />' due to an accident which occurred during the. last week at Lincoln Gay West and
<br />William Street, it was decided to paint a warning on the Street at this inter-
<br />? section calling attention to traffic signals. The Chief of Police was
<br />instructed by the Secretary to carry out these instructions.
