t <br />AL V V':. <br />The Chief submitted detailed specifications for the 1000 gallon <br />taper, of which the following is a copy, and the Secretary was instructed <br />furnish these to those suppliers who are interested in making a bid. <br />Specifications <br />For Fire Pumper for City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Description and requirements: <br />As no two manufacturers make the same trucks, pumps, <br />engines, etc., it will be necessary for each bid to set forth <br />exactly the kind or make of each article as set forth in the list <br />of equipment listed hereafter. <br />The apparatus, including pump, motor and all equipment must,. <br />be set up complete on chassis in proper place, well fastened, and all <br />in proper working order when Pumper is delivered. The Chassis and all <br />wood and iron and stock to be painted the number of coats to be stated <br />in the description given by the bidder. <br />It will be necessary for the engineer of each manufacturer <br />bidding on this job to be on hand to describe his apparatus and equip- <br />ment. Description and illustrations of the apparatus bid upon must <br />accompany the bid. <br />All bids must be made upon the forms as prescribed by the <br />State Board'of accounts, and each bid shall include the non - collusion <br />affidavit as prescribed by the State Board of accounts. <br />Where an article or equal is specified it shall mean that <br />the article or its equal in strength, durability and capacity shall be <br />accepted. The Board of Safety, after due investigation, shall be the <br />judges as to equal strength, durability and capacity of the article bid <br />upon. <br />Delivery: <br />The entire apparatus including all equipment shall be delivered <br />at the Central Fire Station at the time specified in the contract. The <br />Pumper and all equipment shall be tested by the Fire Chief of South Bend, <br />Indiana, who will report the results to the Board of Safety before the <br />apparatus is accepted. <br />FIRE PMdP <br />To be at least 1000 gallon capacity in accordance with N. B. F. <br />Underwriters requirements. also it must be at least 150 brake horse- <br />power. <br />MOTOR <br />To.be at least six cylinder designed for fire service and to <br />i <br />be built in the factory of fire apparatus manufacturer. <br />CHASSIS <br />Worm drive, or equal, four wheel Bendix B. K. Booster Brakes, <br />or equal. All bright parts chromium plated. <br />FIRE EgUIPMENT <br />Full standard equipment to include the following fire equip- <br />ment together with the necessary brackets, hooks, clips or other <br />provisions for mounting on truck. <br />
