The Chief submitted detailed specifications for the 1000 gallon taper, of which the following is a copy, and the Secretary was instructed furnish these to those suppliers who are interested in making a bid. Specifications For Fire Pumper for City of South Bend, Indiana Description and requirements: As no two manufacturers make the same trucks, pumps, engines, etc., it will be necessary for each bid to set forth exactly the kind or make of each article as set forth in the list of equipment listed hereafter. The apparatus, including pump, motor and all equipment must,. be set up complete on chassis in proper place, well fastened, and all in proper working order when Pumper is delivered. The Chassis and all wood and iron and stock to be painted the number of coats to be stated in the description given by the bidder. It will be necessary for the engineer of each manufacturer bidding on this job to be on hand to describe his apparatus and equip- ment. Description and illustrations of the apparatus bid upon must accompany the bid. All bids must be made upon the forms as prescribed by the State Board'of accounts, and each bid shall include the non - collusion affidavit as prescribed by the State Board of accounts. Where an article or equal is specified it shall mean that the article or its equal in strength, durability and capacity shall be accepted. The Board of Safety, after due investigation, shall be the judges as to equal strength, durability and capacity of the article bid upon. Delivery: The entire apparatus including all equipment shall be delivered at the Central Fire Station at the time specified in the contract. The Pumper and all equipment shall be tested by the Fire Chief of South Bend, Indiana, who will report the results to the Board of Safety before the apparatus is accepted. FIRE PMdP To be at least 1000 gallon capacity in accordance with N. B. F. Underwriters requirements. also it must be at least 150 brake horse- power. MOTOR To.be at least six cylinder designed for fire service and to i be built in the factory of fire apparatus manufacturer. CHASSIS Worm drive, or equal, four wheel Bendix B. K. Booster Brakes, or equal. All bright parts chromium plated. FIRE EgUIPMENT Full standard equipment to include the following fire equip- ment together with the necessary brackets, hooks, clips or other provisions for mounting on truck.
