REGULAR ;v]E', ETING <br />Regular meeting'of the Board of Public Safety was held at 8 :30 A. M., <br />March 4th, 1935. Millhouse 50.00 <br />Total <br />X528.87 <br />Upon invitation, the representatives <br />of five cab companies appeared <br />before <br />the Board to discuss the situation of <br />permits under which they are <br />operat- <br />ing in the City which developed to be <br />as follows: <br />Indiana Cab Co. operating 24 cars now <br />have stands at the following <br />places: <br />LaSalle Hotel on the south <br />side of LaSalle Ave. <br />LaSalle annex on the north <br />_side of LaSalle Ave. <br />S. W. Corner of Colfax & <br />Michigan on south side 'of Colfax <br />At the old grand Trunk depot <br />on Michigan St. <br />American Cab Co., a subsidiary of the Indiana Cab Co. operating three cars <br />at: S.E. corner of Colfax & Main on Colfax <br />Courtesy Cab Co. operating five .cars out of a two cab at the N. vi. <br />corner of Michigan and Jefferson, on Jefferson. <br />The Yellow -Cab Co. operating 18 cabs now have stands at the following places: <br />Hoffmann Hotel on the South side of LaSalle Ave. <br />Oliver Hotel on the north side of Washington St. <br />Jefferson Hotel on the south side of Jefferson St. <br />Bus station. <br />N. Y. Central Railroad <br />The South Bend Cab Co. operating 15 cars now have stands at the following <br />places. <br />South Shore station on the west side of Michigan gat. <br />Clark's Restaurant on the west side of Michigan St. <br />After a thorough discussion of the matter, the Board took it under advise -. <br />ment to be decided at a later meeting. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT -Chief Lane present: <br />The Secretary informed the Board that the Police Physician, Dr. Pauszek, <br />brought up the question of fees in extraordinary cases such as accidents <br />and stated his opinion of his duties was to check up on reported sick <br />policemen and if his services were desired, the policeman was to pay the <br />expense and in accident eases he vias to make suggestions as to procedure <br />and any expense incurred by such service was to be paid by the City in <br />addition to his retainer fee. On conferring with the Chief, he was of <br />the same opinion and the Secretary was instructed to look up the Ordinance <br />to ascertain if the duties of the Police Physician were outlined. <br />A communication from the Mayor was read recommending that the Chief of <br />Police order the following to report to the Police Surgeon for physical <br />examination Sgt. J. J. Hatt, Officers Walter hosler, David C. Raymond, <br />Lafayette Riddle, Michael Grzesczyk, John Howard, Stephen Molnar, Fred <br />Hammer, Mrs. Minnie Evans and Mrs. Jennie Penwell. <br />After discussing this matter with the Chi --f of Police, the Board decided <br />to make this request of the first four mentioned for the present and the <br />Secretary was instructed to so notify the individuals. <br />
