BILL NO. 24-18 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 10598-18 <br /> AN ORDINANCE INITIATED BY THE AREA PLAN COMMISSION OF ST. <br /> JOSEPH COUNTY,INDIANA,AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE SOUTH BEND <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE, ARTICLE 2 RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS, ARTICLE 3 <br /> COMMERCIAL/MIXED USE DISTRICTS,AND ARTICLE 7 GENERAL <br /> REGULATIONSTO REVISE OFF-STREET PARKING REGULATIONS <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br /> The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, adopted a new zoning ordinance <br /> that went into effect on May 7, 2004. Experience in using the Ordinance's provisions for off- <br /> street parking has shown that these regulations have led to the overbuilding of vehicle parking <br /> lots while not promoting the use of active transportation modes. This ordinance revises <br /> required parking count and parking design standards to reduce the amount of unnecessary off- <br /> street parking and to encourage infill and reuse of existing properties. <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of <br /> South Bend, Indiana as follows: <br /> SECTION I.
