2 5 5: <br />The City Attorney submitted the following resolution and the same was <br />✓adopted by the Board. <br />Be It resolved by the Board of Public ?forks of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, that hereafter When any person applies fora building permit to repair or con— <br />struct any building, two stories dr more in height, and within four feet of the street line <br />in any block in the City of South Bend, then said permit shall require said person, as a, <br />part of said permit, to build on the sidewalk in front of said proposed building, a cover <br />or shed, one—half the width of said sidewalk, which cover shall be :_;-upported- by pots and_ <br />timbers, and a plank roof thereover of sufficient strength to guard against and hold any <br />falling material. The side of said cover or shed next to the building line shall also be <br />securely enclosed. <br />When, as a part of said proposed building, the sidewalk is also to be con— <br />structed, said covee or shed shall be built outside of the curb line, and it shall be <br />built with a plank walk on the level with the sidewalk of the adjoining property, and <br />it shall be constructed so as not to obstruct the flow of water in the gutter. Provided <br />however, that not less than Five (51) feet of :sidewalk shall be left clear in all instances <br />for'pedestrians. <br />In the event that said cover or shed is so constructed, the person re— <br />ceiving such permit, shall have the permit of using, for the purpose of storing building <br />material, one—third of the width of, the whole street, except where there is a street car <br />line in said street then said person shall have the privilege of using for said purpose, <br />one—half the distance between the outside nearest rail and the curb. <br />Adopted this 10th. , day of February 1914. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC FORKS. <br />E.
