JOSEPH) SS <br />STATE OF INDIANA.) <br />The board of Public Safety of the City of South bend, Indiana, being <br />in regular session at the hour of 9-30 A.Y., <br />, y 22, 1933., the time <br />set for the hearing of charges preferred against Officer Chester Wilmont <br />by Chief of Chester r 4 Police John B. Kuespert, I'l 15, 1933, to the effect <br />that said V�,rilmont was guilty of "Conduct unbecoming en officer <br />and violation of the rules of the Police Department of the City of <br />Sout h Ben d whi ch ch arge s a re in wor d s and f i p"Lire s as f o 1 lows , (HI) <br />and said Officer Wilmont having been duly notified of said charges and <br />the hop-ring of said charges having been set for 9-30 A. 1 lvi 22 <br />1933, in presence of Officer Chester Wilmont and his attcrney, and said <br />setting of hearing having been agreed to by said Officer V�ilmont and <br />his attorney, and now sai Officer Wilmont fails to epperr before the <br />Board. of Safety et the appointed hour either in person or by his attor- <br />ney, and the Clerk of the Board having been ordered to call Officer <br />Wilmont, and having called Officer Wilmont three times and Officer <br />l'ilmont responding not either in p erson or by attorney and t he Board <br />having heard the testimony - g p <br />of C ,ptain Edward V. Horris after he had <br />been duly sworn, and finding that the charges preferred against said <br />Of fi cer , - 1ilmont here supported by the evidence' adduced the Board, <br />by unanimous vote dismisses said Officer Wilmont from the Police. <br />Dbpartment of the City of South Bend and discharges-him from its service <br />effective at once which discharge and dismissal are for the reason that . s <br />said Office Chester Wilmont was guilty of "Conduct unbecoming an <br />officer and violation of rules of the Police Department of South Bend,, <br />Indiana, in that on the 26th. 2 day of April, 1933, said patrolman Wilmont <br />was detailed at Epworth Hospital in company with of Bend Roberts, <br />to guard tinTo prisoners, to-wit, the Rajski brothers who had been wounded <br />in an attempt to commit robery and house-breaking in the city of South <br />B and were confined. in said hospital and that while on guard and. on <br />duty, said officer left his post of duty partially disrobed and laid <br />down on a davenport in said hospital and went to sleep and that he was <br />so discovered by C 1 of said Police Department at 2:15 A. hl., <br />on the morning of April 26, 1933, and it is so ordered, that said officer <br />Chester Wilmont be dismissed and discharged from the Police Department <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Subscribed and sworn trn before me tti_- <br />22nd day of 1 1933. <br />t 0 5 _Vl Public C- <br />7�� Y'y Uommission e�xpires b 193 <br />
