REGULAR MEETING April 9, 2018
Metro Units and defines the role and expectations of all parties. It maintains the integrity of the
Metro Units which helps promote safety of the community. The agreement solidifies the local
relationship between the Prosecutor's Office and the SBPD and it is mutually beneficial. The
Interlocal Agreement covers the Metro Homicide Unit, the Drug Investigation Unit, and the
Special Victims Unit. Under the terms of the agreement, the SBPD will provide thirteen(13) full-
time officers to the unit while providing funding for three (3) additional officers to be hired at the
discretion of the Prosecutor. In light of that, allowing three(3) officers to return from
the Metro Units and offer their expertise with the SBPD is crucial for the continued safety of the
community and training of new officers.
This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and
opponents were given an opportunity to be heard.
Ken Cotter, St. Joseph County Prosecutor with offices on the 10th floor of the County-City
Building, South Bend, IN, stated, I ask you to approve this measure.
