<br />The following Bonds were approved by the Beard.
<br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR.
<br />TO ACCOMPANY STREET IMPROVEMENT CONTRACT.
<br />KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we, Thomas C. Barnes, as principal, and.
<br />,.-'Jesse A. Barnes a,jid. George W. Whiteman as sureties, of the County of St. Joseph and State
<br />of Indiana, are Meld and bound by the City of South Bend, Indiana, in then sum of
<br />Four Thousand Eighteel-mundred ^nd eight ($4y808.00)Dollars for the payment of which, well
<br />and truly to be made, we jointly and severally bind ourselves firmly by these presents.
<br />The conditions of the above obligations are that
<br />Whereas, one Calvert H. Defrees, and the City -of South Bend., Indiana,by and
<br />through its Boars? of Public Works, died on the 26th. , day of June,1913, enter into It contract
<br />whereby the said. Defrees did contract and a.ryree to pave High Street from Sample Street to
<br />Broadway Street in said City, under Improvement Resolution No. 257, all in accordance with
<br />drawings and specifications on file in, the office of said Beard, which drawings and speci-
<br />fications are referred to in said contract and made a part thereof,and
<br />Whereas, the said principal ,Thomas C. Barnes, did take an assignment
<br />of said contract from said Defrees, which assignment -was dated September 19th.,1913, and
<br />w ich assignment is filed in the office of said Board,, and by the terms of which assignment
<br />said prinicipal Barnes assumed al 1 the obligations of said Defrees and agreed to to and
<br />perform still of the things in said contract contained for said Defrees to do and perform.
<br />Now, if the said Thomas,C. Barnes shall dia,ithfully to and perform all of the
<br />things in said contract and drawings and specifications cr-,ntained for said Defrees to do
<br />and perform, and fulfill all the conditions -and sttipulations therein contained, according
<br />to the true intent and meaning thereof in all respects, then this obligations shall be void
<br />6therwise to remain in full force and virtue ' in. law; and in the event said City shall extend
<br />the time for the completion of said work or alter said contract in any repsect, such ex-
<br />tension or alteration small not in any way operate to release the sureties on this
<br />Bonet.

<br />contract whereby the said Defrees did contract anal agree to pave Dunham Street from Harris
<br />Street to Arnold Street in said City, under improvement Resolution No. 2,4-99 all in accordance
<br />with drawings and specifications on file in the office of said Board, which drawings and €
<br />specifications are referred to in said contract and made a part thereof, and
<br />Whereas; the said principal, Thomas C. Barnes, did take an assignment
<br />of said contract from said Defrees, which assignment was dated September 19th.,19132 and "..
<br />which assignment is filed in the office of said Board, and by the terns of which assignment
<br />s�: id principal Barnes assumed all. t ne obligations of said Defrees and agreed to do and per -
<br />ford all of the things in said contract contained for said Defrees to to and perform,
<br />Now, if the said Thomas C Barnes shall faithfully do and perform all of the
<br />things in said contract and drawings and specifications contained for said Defrees to do
<br />and perform, and fulfill all the conditions and stipulations therein contained, accord-
<br />ing to the true intent and meaning thereof in all respects, then this obligations shall be
<br />void; otherwise to remain ,in full force and virtuein law; and in the event said City shall
<br />extend the time for the completion of said work or alter said contract in any respects, such
<br />extension or alteration shall not in any way operate to release the sureties on this Bond.
