259 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held in the <br />Boards 6ffice,Monday October 24th.; 19u7. <br />Meeting -was called to order at 4 :10 P.M. <br />Mayor Montgomery was present at the meeting. <br />Mr. Reeder was not present. <br />�, prevailed to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last <br />Motion i on r P <br />P <br />regular meeting. <br />FIRE DEPT. <br />Fire Dept. bills were approved and ordered paid. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPT. <br />Electrical Dept. bills were approved and ordered paid <br />Motion prevailed that the weekly report of Supt. Qualls for the week end <br />ing Oct. 23rd. be accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />DEPT. OF I'MIGHTS AND MEASURES <br />City Sealers bills were approved and ordered paid <br />Motion prevailed that tape weekly report.of City Sealer Burns for the week <br />ending Oct 22nd. be accepted and ordered placed on file., <br />POLICE DEPT. <br />Police Dept. bills were approved,and ordered paid. <br />Motion prevailed that the applications of Arthur F. Sholtey, Chas. L. <br />Benson and David Hall Delmar be accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />Motion prevailed that the resignation of Officer Harry Ambs as of Oct. <br />124th. be accepted. <br />The Board went into session as a trial body'to hear the.following charges <br />against Officers Lloyd J. Dodge, and John Stineberg prefered by Chief Hatt. <br />south Bend,.Ind.. October 19, 1927 <br />o the Board of Public Safety, <br />outh BendF, Indiana. <br />I herewith submit accusations and charges against <br />ffiser Lloyd J. Dodge, that said police offieer.has been guilty <br />,f: Inexcusable neglect of duty,, in this: <br />That on October 16, 1927, the said Officer Lloyd J. Dodge, <br />together with Officer John Stineburg were detailed. to the <br />Erskine Park Golf Course for the purpose of receiving from <br />the attendant there, money consisting of the receipts for <br />the business of Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October <br />16th, and that after receiving; the said receipts of money <br />from the attendant,,, this officer, together with Officer <br />.Stineburg, started toward the Police Headquarters for the <br />purpose of depositing the money with the Desk Sergeant, <br />and that said Officer Dodge and said Officer Stineburg, <br />stopped at the Office of Ralph Sollitt & Sons, 51S East <br />Sample Street, and both said Officers left the police car <br />on the street in front of the above. mentioned. office, and <br />that both entered the office and left the money unprotected <br />in the police car, and after remaining in said office for <br />a period of about ten minutes, they came out and the money <br />had disappeared from the police ear. Officer Dodge having been <br />intrusted, in company with Officer Stineburg, wh the prof <br />tection of said money, failed in. his trust and duty as a <br />police officer. <br />Respectfully submitted, and filed with the Clerk of the <br />Board of Safety, this 19th day of October, 1927. <br />(Signed) James J.
