259 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held in the Boards 6ffice,Monday October 24th.; 19u7. Meeting -was called to order at 4 :10 P.M. Mayor Montgomery was present at the meeting. Mr. Reeder was not present. �, prevailed to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last Motion i on r P P regular meeting. FIRE DEPT. Fire Dept. bills were approved and ordered paid. ELECTRICAL DEPT. Electrical Dept. bills were approved and ordered paid Motion prevailed that the weekly report of Supt. Qualls for the week end ing Oct. 23rd. be accepted and ordered placed on file. DEPT. OF I'MIGHTS AND MEASURES City Sealers bills were approved and ordered paid Motion prevailed that tape weekly report.of City Sealer Burns for the week ending Oct 22nd. be accepted and ordered placed on file., POLICE DEPT. Police Dept. bills were approved,and ordered paid. Motion prevailed that the applications of Arthur F. Sholtey, Chas. L. Benson and David Hall Delmar be accepted and ordered placed on file. Motion prevailed that the resignation of Officer Harry Ambs as of Oct. 124th. be accepted. The Board went into session as a trial body'to hear the.following charges against Officers Lloyd J. Dodge, and John Stineberg prefered by Chief Hatt. south Bend,.Ind.. October 19, 1927 o the Board of Public Safety, outh BendF, Indiana. I herewith submit accusations and charges against ffiser Lloyd J. Dodge, that said police offieer.has been guilty ,f: Inexcusable neglect of duty,, in this: That on October 16, 1927, the said Officer Lloyd J. Dodge, together with Officer John Stineburg were detailed. to the Erskine Park Golf Course for the purpose of receiving from the attendant there, money consisting of the receipts for the business of Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th, and that after receiving; the said receipts of money from the attendant,,, this officer, together with Officer .Stineburg, started toward the Police Headquarters for the purpose of depositing the money with the Desk Sergeant, and that said Officer Dodge and said Officer Stineburg, stopped at the Office of Ralph Sollitt & Sons, 51S East Sample Street, and both said Officers left the police car on the street in front of the above. mentioned. office, and that both entered the office and left the money unprotected in the police car, and after remaining in said office for a period of about ten minutes, they came out and the money had disappeared from the police ear. Officer Dodge having been intrusted, in company with Officer Stineburg, wh the prof tection of said money, failed in. his trust and duty as a police officer.
