REGULAR MEETING <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend personnel of the <br />Transportation Department, Street <br />Department, Water Works and other <br />departments labored throughout the <br />night hours until daylight to isolate <br />the flood which prevented water from <br />seriously damaging nearby properties; and <br />JUNE 29, 1981 <br />WHEREAS, it was necessary for the department workers <br />to remove an estimated 4,000 square feet <br />of damaged street pavement and replace <br />new road bed; and <br />WHEREAS, the quick response by the City of South <br />Bend and these individuals involved <br />adverted what could have been a major <br />catastrophe including the flooding of <br />many business establishments throughout <br />the vicinity of the rupture. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we who are assembled <br />on this date offer our sincere thanks to all <br />City of South Bend personnel involved with <br />stemming the flood and repair of the surface. <br />For their speedy action, we offer our sincere <br />and heartfelt thanks for a job well done. <br />DOWNTOWN SOUTH BEND COUNCIL <br />s/ Nelson Abrahams, President <br />Dated this 24th day of June, 1981. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the resolution was accepted and referred to the bureaus <br />involved along with the Board's thanks for the work performed. <br />FILING OF REPORTS AND ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION <br />NO. 3510, 1981 (LOUIE'S TUX SHOP) <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3510, 1981 <br />RESOLVED BY THE.BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, That it is desirable to vacate the <br />following: <br />The first alley south of Lincolnway West, <br />running westerly from Chapin Street (inner <br />belt) to Cushing Street, excepting the north - <br />south alley right -of -way; the west 119' more <br />or less being in Heintzman's Addition and <br />the east 300' more or less being in Kunstman's <br />First Addition to the City of South Bend. <br />Reserving the rights and easements of all Utilities <br />and the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct <br />and maintain any facilities, including, but not limited to, <br />the following: electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer, surface <br />water control structures and ditches, within the vacated right - <br />of -way, unless such rights are released by the individual <br />Utilities. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially <br />affected by such vacation: <br />Lots 1 through 11 in Kunstman's lst Addition, <br />and Lots 4 and 5 in Heintzman's Addition. <br />
