REGULAR MEETING JUNE 22, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m., on Monday, June 22, 1981, by President John E. Leszczynski, <br />with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan <br />present. Also present was Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />the minutes of the June 15, 1981, <br />approved as submitted. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />regular meeting of the Board were <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, a notice concerning a power outage by I & M Electric was <br />added to the agenda following the request for a revenue sharing <br />hearing. <br />CANCELLATION OF JULY 6, 1981, REGULAR MEETING <br />Upon a motion,made by.Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the regular meeting of the Board scheduled for July 6, <br />1981, was cancelled because of the three -day work week the preceding <br />week for the July 4th holiday. <br />AWARD BID - LEASE /PURCHASE OF COPIER FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />Ms. Marzy Bauer, Director of the Department of Community Development, <br />recommended that the low bid of Adams Remco of $550.00 per month for <br />a yearly rental contract of a Savin .System 600 Copier be awarded. <br />Mrs. Patricia Harris of the Community Development staff advised <br />that the Savin Copier best met the needs of the department and the <br />vast amount of copying work done each month. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the low bid of <br />Adams Remco in the amount of $550.00 per month for copier rental <br />was awarded. <br />AWARD BIDS - DE- ICING MATERIALS <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Sean Watt, Director of the Division of <br />Transportation, recommended the low bids of International Salt Company <br />for rock salt at $24.99 per ton, and The Levy Company for calcium <br />chloride slag sand mixture at $11.75 per ton, be awarded. Mr. Watt's <br />letter indicated that the department was not interested in re- bidding <br />the Liquid chloride or the calcium.chloride sand at this time. It <br />was noted that no bids had been received on June 15th for those items. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the low bids of International Salt Company and The Levy <br />Company were awarded as recommended. <br />AWARD BID - CAR WASHES <br />Police Chief Dan Thompson, in a letter to the Board, recommended <br />that the low bid of Hi -Speed Auto Wash for car washes of city vehicles <br />be awarded. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the low bid of Hi -Speed Auto Wash was awarded as follows: <br />Full Service, <br />0 -100 units per month <br />$2.15 <br />each <br />Full Service, <br />100 or more units per month <br />2.05 <br />each <br />Wet Wash Only, <br />0 -100 units per month <br />1.65 <br />each <br />Wet Wash Only, <br />100 or more units per month <br />1.50 <br />each <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION <br />NO. 13, 1981 - SALE OF PROPERTIES <br />TO REDEVELOPMENT FOR MONROE- SAMPLE PROJECT <br />RESOLUTION NO. 13, 1981 <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Department of Redevelopment desires <br />to acquire from the Board of Public Works certain city -owned <br />parcels of real estate for the development of the Monroe - <br />Sample Area; and <br />
