i <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 4. 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, May 4, 1981, by President John E. Leszczynski, <br />with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Richard L. Hill present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry A Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the minutes of the April 27, 1981, regular meeting of the <br />Board were approved as submitted. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the request of the Salvation Army for permission to operate <br />a booth on River Bend Plaza on May 21, 1981, was added to the agenda <br />following the request for the Paul F. Boehm Mini - Marathon. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3508, 1981 - CONFIRMED (SUNNYMEDE 3RD ADDITION) <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on Vacation Resolu- <br />tion No. 3508, 1981, for the vacation of the first 14' north -south <br />alley east of Sunnyside running north from Wall Street to the projected <br />south right -of -way line of the east -west alley for a distance of 128.1' <br />between Lots 694 and 693 of Sunnyside'3rd Addition to the City of South <br />Bend. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />It was noted that a notice had been sent to all property owners in the <br />vicinity of the proposed vacation and letters had been received from <br />the various city agencies indicating that there was no objection to <br />the proposed vacation. There was no one present to remonstrate against <br />the vacation and no written remonstrances had been received. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />Board confirmed the Vacation Resolution and ordered preparation of the <br />Assessment Roll to be filed on May 11, 1981. <br />APPROVE ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3506, 1981 <br />(ALLEY RUNNING NORTH FROM CRESCENT AVENUE) <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll with <br />respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3506, 1981, for the vacation of <br />the 14' alley running north from Crescent Avenue to the first east - <br />west alley between Niles and Hill Streets, in Cedar Heights Subdivision. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The Assessment Roll lists $0.00 net benefits and $0.00 net damages <br />to the abutting properties. No remonstrators were present and no <br />written remonstrances were filed with the Board. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Assessment <br />Roll was approved and said resolution is in all things ratified and <br />confirmed and said proceedings closed. <br />APPROVE SALE OF POLICE VEHICLE <br />Police Chief Dan Thompson requested permission from the Board to sell <br />a 1972 Mercury, Mechanical Vehicle No. 736. In his letter to the Board, <br />the chief indicated that the vehicle was in poor shape with the rear <br />frame rusted beyond repair and the differential brackets pulled out <br />of the frame. It had been determined it would cost the city too much <br />money to have the vehicle repaired. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF LEASES WITH DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT (SURFACE <br />PARKING - DISPOSITION PARCELS 8 -9, 8 -11, 2 -6C AND 2 -17) <br />Leases were submitted for Board execution for the lease from the Depart- <br />ment of Redevelopment of Disposition Parcels 8- 9,'8 -11, more commonly <br />known as the lot south of the Baer's Building, and for the lease of <br />Disposition Parcels 2 -6C and 2 -17 located west of the Morris Civic <br />
