It was noted that the adjacent property owners were
notified of the proposed house move, and a letter was filed in support
of the move by Gene and Maureen DeFauw, -817 Forest Avenue. Mr. Ralph
J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, recommended
approval of the move subject to the following route: West on Bartlett
to Main Street, north on Main to Park Lane, west on Park Lane to
Lafayette, north on Lafayette to Riverside and west on Riverside to
Forest. It was noted that the required Certificate of Insurance on
behalf of Lykowski Construction was_on.file in the Board office. The
owner of the property is Mr. William Morris, 1704 Ridgedale Road. Mr.
James Markle, Building Commissioner, recommended approval of the
proposed house move in accordance with the route approved by the
Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Mr. Paul Wilems, 812 Forest Avenue,
asked when the move would take place and where on the lot the house
would be situated. He stated that he owned property next door to the
lot on which the house would be moved. Mr. Leszczynski showed Mr.
Wilems the site plan which indicated the house would be approximately
28 feet from the lot line. Mr. Wilems asked if the tree in front of
the property would be cut down. Mr. Lykowski stated that the tree
would be removed and replaced with a young tree. He stated that it
was hoped the move could take place at the beginning of the next week
since the proposed route was now known and a schedule could be worked
out with the utility companies. He further advised that excavation
could begin this week. Mr. Marchmont Kovas, South Bend Tribune reporter,
asked if any of the tree branches along the route would be cut, and
Mr. Lykowski stated that some branches on Riverside between Park and
Forest would need to be cut. Mr. James Mullins, Southhold Restorations,
Inc., advised that the immediate neighbors were notified of this and
he stated that the house was only a story and a half and the chimney
would be removed to keep it as low in profile as possible. Mr. Wilems
asked how long it would take before the house was set on its foundation.
Mr. Lykowski stated that the excavation would be done at the end of
this week and, hopefully, the building would be moved the first part
of the following week. He advised that the foundation would be
constructed underneath the building within four to five days of the
move after which backfilling would take place. Mr. Wilems asked if a
