REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 16, 1981 <br />REQUEST FOR ST. JOSEPH RIVER RUN - MICHIANA WATERSHED; INC. <br />A request from Richard Carey, Chairman of the 1981 St. Joseph River <br />Run, was received for permission to again hold the annual run on <br />May 16, 1981, starting at Leeper Park in South Bend to the French <br />Paper Company Dam in Niles, Michigan. The use of Leeper Park, <br />Veterans' Park and the portage facilities was referred to the <br />Park Department for review. Mr. Carey noted that all contestants <br />will be required to sign waivers of liability. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request <br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended approval of the following traffic control devices: <br />Remove stop sign and revise to traffic signal - <br />On Donmoyer at Michigan <br />Install No Parking - South end of supergraphic <br />(100 S. Michigan) near Jefferson <br />Remove No Parking Zone and revise to l Hour Parking - <br />213 W. Colfax <br />Remove 4 -way Stop Sign and revise to traffic signal - <br />Angela & North Shore <br />Install No Turn On Red - South approach of North Shore <br />at Angela <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above traffic control devices were approved. <br />APPROVE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS PARADE <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended approval of the request of the Knights of Columbus to <br />conduct a march on April 4, 1981, commencing at 2:45 p.m., at the <br />Quality Inn and proceeding westerly on Wayne Street to St. Patrick's <br />Church in connection with an exemplification to be held in South <br />Bend on that weekend. Mr. Wadzinski recommended that the Knights <br />of Columbus contact Captain Thomas Gargis immediately to finalize <br />all plans and allow the Traffic Division ample time to delegate <br />manpower needed for the march. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the parade was approved subject to <br />the filing of the appropriate Certificate of Insurance. <br />APPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN -UP OF LOTS <br />A request from the Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office was received <br />for permission to have city environmental crews clean the following <br />lots within the city: <br />226 <br />Sadie <br />Lot <br />S. 225 S.
