-3 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 9, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, March 9, 1981, by President John E. Leszczynski, <br />with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan <br />present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski, and <br />carried, the minutes of the March 2, 1981, regular meeting of the <br />Board were approved as submitted. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 7, 1981 (APPROVAL OF LICENSE APPLICATION <br />FOR SCRAP AND JUNK YARD - STEVE & GENE'S AUTO TRUCK SALVAGE) <br />Mr. Hill explained that, on December 29, 1980, the Board had approved <br />the scrap and junk dealer's license renewal for Steve and Gene's Auto <br />Truck Salvage located at 3109 South Gertrude Street, based upon the <br />favorable review by the Neighborhood Code Enforcmenet Office and the <br />Fire Prevention Bureau. The matter had been referred to the Council <br />and the Council had not approved the license renewal. Mr. Hill <br />stated that, in accordance with the wishes of the Council, updated <br />reports were filed by the Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office and <br />the Fire Prevention Bureau. He advvsed that the first inspection <br />was held on February 9th, and it was the recommendation at that <br />time that a section of fence be extended to block the view of the <br />junk cars from Gertrude Street. On February 26th, another inspection <br />was made by both bureaus and it was recommended that the fence be <br />extended an additional six feet. Mr. Hill stated that the only <br />two recommendations made by the city agencies were that a 25 -foot <br />fire lane be maintained on the property, and the fence be extended <br />an additional six feet. Mr. Hill advised that it was the recom- <br />mendation of both city bureaus that the license renewal be approved. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the following resolution was adopted and referred to the Common <br />Council for concurrence: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7. 1981 <br />WHEREAS, a license renewal application for Steve and Gene's Auto <br />Truck Salvage for the year 1981 has been received by the Board <br />of Public Works; and <br />WHEREAS, inspections of the property have been completed by the <br />Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office and the Fire Prevention <br />Bureau as required by Ordinance No. 6621 -79; and <br />WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office and the Fire <br />Prevention Bureau have found that no code violations exist on <br />the property; and <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 6621 -79 requires approval of a Resolution <br />of the Board of Public Works authorizing the renewal of the <br />license application. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board.of Public Works of <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the license renewal applica- <br />tion for Steve and Gene's Auto Truck Salvage, 3109 South Gertrude <br />Street, be approved. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be subject to <br />approval and ratification by the Common Council. <br />Approved: March 9, 1981 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ John E.
