REGULAR MEETING Mr. Kernan stated that bids for this work year ago; however, because of the limited been decided the project should be re -bid the hopes of encouraging local business to by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan sheets were approved and signed. APPROVE STREET LIGHT INSTALLATIONS FEBRUARY 23, 1981 had been received over a. funds available, it had in separate packages in bid. Upon a motion made and carried, the title Mr. Leszczynski stated that the moratorium on new street light installations remained in effect; however, where it was determined there was a public health or safety hazard because of inadequate lighting, consideration would be given. He advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, after reviewing various requests, recommended installation of the street lights at the following locations: Burns Street - mid -block light north of St. Vincent; Indiana Avenue - mid -block light between Virginia and Miami; Auten Road - entrance to Laurel Woods Subdivision; Exeter Court; Galway Drive - on cul -de -sac; and Ewing Avenue - mid -block light west of Ironwood. A further recommendation of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting was that no additional lighting be added in the 1400 block of East Donald Street in response to a request received because a mid -block street light presently existed. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above street light installations were approved and the request for additional lighting in the 1400 block of East Donald Street was denied. FILING OF COMMUNICATION OBJECTING TO 'CLOSING OF BERCLIFF ESTATES ENTRANCE A letter from Mr. Lawrence Campbell, Maxine Campbell and Karen Campbell, residents at 302 Bercliff Drive, was submitted to the Board, opposing and objecting to the closing of the Bercliff Estates entrance off Logan Street. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the closing of the entrance had been approved by the Board in December, 1980, on a six -month trial basis at the request of the residents in the area. He stated that the matter would be reviewed again by the Board after the six -month trial period had expired. Upon a motion made by Mr.. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the letter was filed. REQUEST FOR DESIGNATION OF HANDICAPPED PARKING ZONE (417 S. BENDIX) A request was received from Betty Sobieralski for consideration of a handicapped parking designation in front of her parents' home at 417 S. Bendix Drive. She indicated in her letter that her parents were disabled and the neighbors across the street continually parked in front of her parents' home, thus preventing them from parking near their door. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY-OWNED-REAL ESTATE (SCOTT STREET) A request from Mr. David Inman, 626 Marquette, inquiring into the possibility of purchasing city -owned lots located at 213, 217, 219, 221 and 223 Scott Street was received. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was referred to the various city agencies for a determination as to whether or not the city need retain the lots for any reason. 1 1 1
