Upon a motion made <br />and carried, the title <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the moratorium on new street light <br />installations remained in effect; however, where it was determined <br />there was a public health or safety hazard because of inadequate <br />lighting, consideration would be given. He advised that the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, after reviewing various requests, recommended <br />installation of the street lights at the following locations: <br />Burns Street - mid -block light north of St. Vincent; <br />Indiana Avenue - mid -block light between Virginia and Miami; <br />Auten Road - entrance to Laurel Woods Subdivision; <br />Exeter Court; <br />Galway Drive - on cul -de -sac; and <br />Ewing Avenue - mid -block light west of Ironwood. <br />A further recommendation of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting was <br />that no additional lighting be added in the 1400 block of East <br />Donald Street in response to a request received because a mid -block <br />street light presently existed. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above street light installations were approved and <br />the request for additional lighting in the 1400 block of East <br />Donald Street was denied. <br />FILING OF COMMUNICATION OBJECTING TO 'CLOSING OF <br />BERCLIFF ESTATES ENTRANCE <br />A letter from Mr. Lawrence Campbell, Maxine Campbell and Karen <br />Campbell, residents at 302 Bercliff Drive, was submitted to the <br />Board, opposing and objecting to the closing of the Bercliff Estates <br />entrance off Logan Street. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the closing <br />of the entrance had been approved by the Board in December, 1980, <br />on a six -month trial basis at the request of the residents in the <br />area. He stated that the matter would be reviewed again by the <br />Board after the six -month trial period had expired. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr.. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the letter <br />was filed. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATION OF HANDICAPPED PARKING ZONE (417 S. BENDIX) <br />A request was received from Betty Sobieralski for consideration of <br />a handicapped parking designation in front of her parents' home at <br />417 S. Bendix Drive. She indicated in her letter that her parents <br />were disabled and the neighbors across the street continually parked <br />in front of her parents' home, thus preventing them from parking <br />near their door. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY-OWNED-REAL ESTATE (SCOTT STREET) <br />A request from Mr. David Inman, 626 Marquette, inquiring into the <br />possibility of purchasing city -owned lots located at 213, 217, 219, <br />221 and 223 Scott Street was received. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was <br />referred to the various city agencies for a determination as to <br />whether or not the city need retain the lots for any reason. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
