REGULAR`MEETING FEBRUARY 9, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, February 9, 1981, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph <br />E. Kernan present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the minutes of the February 2, 1981, regular meeting of the Board were <br />approved as submitted. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3505, 1981 - CONFIRMED (FIRST ALLEY WEST <br />OF MIAMI ON LINCOLNWAY EAST <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3505, 1981, for the vacation of the first alley west <br />of Miami on Lincolnway East, running southwesterly for a distance of <br />approximately 96 feet to railroad right -of -way. There was no one <br />present to remonstrate against the vacation and no written remonstrances <br />had been received. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the Board confirmed the Vacation Resolution and <br />ordered preparation of the Assessment Roll to be filed on February 16, <br />1981. <br />.L <br />AWARD BID - GASOLINE AND FUEL OIL <br />Mr. Kernan advised that the bids received by the Board on January 26th <br />for gasoline and fuel oil for 1981 had been referred to his office and <br />the Street Department for review. He submitted a letter from Sean <br />Watt, Director of the Division of Transportation, and recommended that <br />the following bids be awarded: <br />Pierceton Equipment Company <br />Item No. 4 - No. 4 Fuel Oil at $.8003 /gal. <br />Smith Petroleum <br />Item No. 1 Regular Gasoline at $1.0123 /gal. <br />Item No. 2 - Unleaded Gasoline at $1.0523/gal. <br />Item No. 3 - No. 2 Diesel at $.9863/gal. <br />No. 2 Heating Oil at $.9763/gal. <br />Item No. 5 - Gasohol at $1.129 /gal. <br />Regohol at $1.089 /gal. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />bids of Pierceton Equipment and Smith Petroleum were awarded as stated <br />above. <br />AWARD BID - FELLOWS STREET IMPROVEMENTS (WALTER TO BARBIE STREETS) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Miller Builders had previously petitioned <br />the Board for the installation of certain street and curb improvements <br />on South Fellows Street from Walter to Barbie Streets in conjunction <br />with the development of lots by Miller Builders in the subdivision <br />bordering on South Fellows. He advised that bids for the work had <br />been received by the Board on January 'S, 1981. On February 2, 1981, <br />Mr. Dennis D. Miller, President of Miller Builders, had authorized the <br />Board to proceed with the Barrett Law ?project for the street and curb <br />improvements in accordance with the low bid received. Mr. Raymond S. <br />Andrysiak, P.E., recommended the Board award the low bid of Walsh and <br />Kelly, Inc. in the amount of $40,158.00. Mr. Leszczynski stated that <br />the city's share of the project would amount to $6,766.62 under the <br />Barrett Law Program because of a difference in the width of Fellows <br />Street and the city's standards for residential streets. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid of <br />Walsh and Kelly, Inc. in the amount of $40,158.00 was awarded. <br />*NOTE: An additional award was made to Renco Oil Corporation at Board <br />meeting of February 16, 1981, for tank wagon deliveries of regular and <br />lead -free gasoline in accordance with the bid submitted on January 26, <br />1981. <br />
