REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 28, 1980 <br />APPROVAL OF EXTRA WORK AGREEMENT - RIETH -RILEY CONSTRUCTION <br />COMPANY (ORANGE- COLFAX CONNECTOR) <br />An Extra Work Agreement was submitted by Rieth -Riley Construction <br />Company for work on the Orange - Colfax Connector. The agreement <br />approved certain sidewalk construction on Colfax Avenue to LaPorte. <br />Mr. McMahon explained that, originally bituminous overlay had <br />been called for; however, it had been determined that there would <br />be a drainage problem, and concrete sidewalks would alleviate <br />that problem and add to the quality of the project. The agreement <br />called for 1,263 square yards of sidewalk at an amount of $25,260.00. <br />Mr. McMahon stated that the project funds were sufficient to <br />address the Extra Work Agreement. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the agreement was approved <br />and referred to the State Highway Commission for approval. <br />REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY- OWNED REAL ESTATE <br />The following requests for purchase of city - owned real estate were <br />received: <br />Mrs. Irene A. Stewart - property at 1012 Rush Street <br />Mr. Edgar 0. Kershner - property at 302 East Keasey Street <br />Mrs. Viola Lawrence - property at 1613 South Carroll <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above requests were referred to the various city agencies to <br />determine if the city should retain the properties for any reason. <br />APPROVE X -RAY VAN DISPLAY ON EMERSON AND NORTH SIDE BOULEVARD <br />A request from the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices <br />of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry for permission to set up <br />a van on Emerson and North Side Boulevard for two weeks, from <br />August 10, 1980 through August 24, 1980, for the purpose of <br />offering physical examinations for members and wives of the organiza- <br />tion. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUESTS FOR BLOCK PARTIES <br />The following requests for block parties were received: <br />Belmont Street from intersection at Sunnyside west to <br />second alley - August 24, 1980, from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. <br />(rain date of August 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) <br />South Street - August 16, 1980, beginning at 3:00 p.m. <br />(rain date of August 17th) <br />Chapin Street between Calvert and Bruce - August 23, 1980, <br />from 8:00 a.m. to midnight <br />Wall Street, 1400 block - August 9, 1980, from 4:00 p.m. to midnight <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above requests were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Traffic Division of the Police Department for <br />review and recommendation. <br />DENIAL OF FOOT RACE - BROADWAY CHRISTIAN PARISH <br />A request had previously been received for permission to conduct <br />a foot race on Saturday, November 1, 1980, starting at the Broadway. <br />Christian Parish with a proposed route of Broadway to Miami and <br />south on Miami to a point south of Scottsdale Mall and back. The <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting had recommended denial of the request <br />in conjunction with the Traffic Division of the Police Department <br />
