REGULAR MEETING <br />REQUEST FOR MARCH - MICHIANA SALT COMPANY <br />JULY 7. 1980 <br />A request from the Michiana Salt Company (anti - abortion group) <br />for permission to hold a march on Saturday, October 11, 1980, <br />starting at 12:00 noon at the old Lerner's Shop on Michigan Street <br />and then proceeding west on Jefferson Street to Main, north on <br />Main to Colfax, east on Colfax to St. Louis Boulevard and north on <br />St. Louis Boulevard to Cedar Street, ending in the northeast parking <br />lot on the corner of Cedar and St. Louis. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Traffic <br />Division of the Police Department for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET CLOSING ON GRACE STREET (ST. ADALBERT'S PARISH) <br />A request from the St.'Adalbert's Parish for permission to block <br />Grace Street from Olive to Meade on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, <br />July 25, 26 and 27, 1980, for the Parish Summer Festival was received <br />by the Board. Upon a recommendation made by Mr. Kernan, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Traffic Division of the Police Depart- <br />ment for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET CLOSING ON ASSUMPTION DRIVE <br />(ST. MARY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH) <br />A request from the St. Mary of the Assumption Church for permission <br />to close a portion of Assumption Drive on Sunday, August 17, 1980, <br />from noon to 10:00 p.m. for the annual Parish Festival was received <br />by the Board. Upon a recommendation made by Mr. Kernan, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Traffic Division of the Police <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCK PARTY ON STANFIELD STREET BETWEEN HOWARD AND CORBY <br />A request for a block party on July 26, 1980, between the hours of <br />3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Stanfield between Howard and Corby was <br />submitted by Arden Davidson. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />recommended approval of the request, indicating there was no <br />objection to the closing. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCK PARTY OSTEMO PLACE <br />A recommendation from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the <br />approval of a block party on Ostemo Place from Iroquois to the <br />alley.next to 601 Ostemo Place on Sunday, August 3, 1980, from <br />2:00 p.m. until 8 :00 p.m. was received by the Board. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />block party was approved.' <br />APPROVAL OF PORTABLE HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGNS - <br />HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH <br />The Bureau.of Traffic and Lighting submitted its favorable recommenda- <br />tion concerning the request of Mr. Albert Fischer on behalf of the <br />Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for portable handicapped parking signs <br />on Lindsey Street near the church to be used only on Sunday mornings <br />during church services. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded <br />by Mr.. Hill and carried, the request for two portable signs was <br />approved.and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting was directed to <br />deliver the signs to the church to be set in place and removed by <br />them during church services. It was to be specifically noted that <br />the handicapped parking signs were not to be placed in existing <br />"no parking" zones in the vicinity of the church. <br />
