Breisch on the previous denial by the Board of his applica- <br />tion for a taxi license. Mr. Breisch was not in attendance,_ and, <br />because the Board President was not present and Mr. Kernan would be <br />required to abstain from voting on the matter, the Clerk was instructed <br />to contact Mr. Breisch and inform him that the Board would schedule <br />the public hearing on July 14, 1980.. <br />APPROVE ADVERTISING FOR BIDS - SALE AND REMODELING OF 2222 LINCOLNWAY WEST <br />Mr. Hill stated that the Board of Public Works and City Council had <br />previously approved the sale of old fire station #11 at 2222 Lincolnway <br />West, and permission was now being requested to receive bids for the <br />facility. He indicated that the Board attorney would prepare the <br />specifications for sale of the structure, and the Building Department <br />was preparing plans and was also requesting permission to advertise <br />for bids on the remodeling of the facility. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, permission to advertise <br />for bids for the sale and renovation was approved. <br />APPROVE ADVERTISING FOR BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED VEHICLES <br />A request from Police Chief Michael C. Borkowski for permission to <br />advertise for the sale of 36 vehicles, many of which are police cars <br />that have been replaced with new fleet vehicles, was received. It <br />was noted that the vehicles could be seen at the lot east of the <br />Municipal Services Facility on July 15 through 18, 1980, between the <br />hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, permission to advertise for the <br />sale of the vehicles was given. <br />AWARD BID - CAR WASHES <br />Mr. Kernan stated that Comet Car Wash had bid the same for a full <br />service car wash at 0 -100 units per month as Hi -Speed Car Wash; <br />however, in the other three categories, their bid was lower. In <br />addition, they quoted on the wet wash only which was omitted from <br />the Hi -Speed bid. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the bid was awarded to Comet Car Wash. <br />ACCEPT RECOMMENDATION TO REJECT BID ' TIRE REPAIRS <br />Mr. Sean Watt, Director of the Division of Transportation, recommended <br />that the Board reject the bid of Singer General Tire for tire repairs <br />to city vehicles based on past quality of service. It was noted that <br />the Bureau of Vehicle Maintenance would begin a program to repair tires <br />.within the department and, by handling most repairs within the facility, <br />a better economical approach would be realized by the city. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid <br />of Singer General Tire was rejected. <br />
