REGULAR MEETING <br />A regular meeting of the <br />on Monday, July 7, 1980, <br />of the Board President. <br />was Deputy City Attorney <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />JULY 7, 1980 <br />Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. <br />Mr. Joseph E. Kernan presiding in the absence <br />Mr. Richard L. Hill was present. Also present <br />Terry A. Crone. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded.by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />a status report of the storm damage to the City of South Bend which <br />occurred on July 5, 1980, was added to the agenda following the <br />assessment roll hearing on the alley vacation in Homeland Second <br />Addition. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />the minutes of the regular meeting of June 23, 1980, were approved <br />as submitted. <br />OPENING OF BIDS- FIRST BANK CENTER ATRIUM (STRUCTURAL, <br />CURTAINWALL AND SPRINKLER) <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the structural steel, <br />curtainwall and sprinkler system for the Atrium portion of First <br />Bank Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to <br />be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Steel Fabricating Division <br />of Midland Corporation <br />11th and Cleveland Streets <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Structural Steel (furnish and <br />fabricate - no erection) <br />St. Joseph Valley Structural <br />Steel Corporation <br />1203 Kent Street <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />Structural Steel (furnish only) <br />Alternate <br />Haven Busch Company <br />3443 Chicago Drive, <br />Grandville, Michigan <br />Bid was signed by R. E. Zawlocki, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a bid bond in the amount <br />of 5% of the bid was submitted. <br />$384,100.00 <br />Bid was signed by Dean R. Kelly, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a bid bond in the amount <br />of 5% of the bid was submitted. <br />$467,500.00 <br />327,000.00 <br />Bid was signed by John H. Busch, <br />S.W. non- collusion affidavit was in <br />49418 order and a bid bond in the amount <br />of 5% of the bid was submitted. <br />Structural Steel (furnish only) <br />$399,600.00 <br />Deputy Attorney Crone advised that Haven Busch Company had not submitted <br />the required certified check for an out -of -state bidder and had instead <br />submitted a 5% bid bond. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by <br />Mr. Kernan and carried, the Clerk was instructed to notify the Haven <br />Busch Company that the proper bid security had not been received and <br />to advise them that the Board would allow a 48 -hour period for <br />submittal of a certified check in order to consider the bid. <br />David E.
