REGULAR MEETING A regular meeting of the on Monday, July 7, 1980, of the Board President. was Deputy City Attorney AGENDA ITEM ADDED JULY 7, 1980 Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Joseph E. Kernan presiding in the absence Mr. Richard L. Hill was present. Also present Terry A. Crone. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded.by Mr. Hill and carried, a status report of the storm damage to the City of South Bend which occurred on July 5, 1980, was added to the agenda following the assessment roll hearing on the alley vacation in Homeland Second Addition. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of June 23, 1980, were approved as submitted. OPENING OF BIDS- FIRST BANK CENTER ATRIUM (STRUCTURAL, CURTAINWALL AND SPRINKLER) This was the date set for receiving bids for the structural steel, curtainwall and sprinkler system for the Atrium portion of First Bank Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Steel Fabricating Division of Midland Corporation 11th and Cleveland Streets Mishawaka, Indiana Structural Steel (furnish and fabricate - no erection) St. Joseph Valley Structural Steel Corporation 1203 Kent Street Elkhart, Indiana Structural Steel (furnish only) Alternate Haven Busch Company 3443 Chicago Drive, Grandville, Michigan Bid was signed by R. E. Zawlocki, non- collusion affidavit was in order and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. $384,100.00 Bid was signed by Dean R. Kelly, non - collusion affidavit was in order and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. $467,500.00 327,000.00 Bid was signed by John H. Busch, S.W. non- collusion affidavit was in 49418 order and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. Structural Steel (furnish only) $399,600.00 Deputy Attorney Crone advised that Haven Busch Company had not submitted the required certified check for an out -of -state bidder and had instead submitted a 5% bid bond. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the Clerk was instructed to notify the Haven Busch Company that the proper bid security had not been received and to advise them that the Board would allow a 48 -hour period for submittal of a certified check in order to consider the bid. David E. McDaniel Co., Inc. 1055 W. Joliet Road Valparaiso, Indiana Bid was signed by James H.
