REGULAR MEETING JUNE 23. 1980 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, June 23, 1980, by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of June 16, 1980, were approved as submitted. AGENDA ITEM ADDED Mr. McMahon stated that a recommendation concerning the granting of easements for the purpose of permitting below grade encroachments associated with the garage portion of First Bank Center would be considered by the Board at this meeting. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the matter was added to the agenda after the taxi license denial. OPENING OF BIDS - NORTHWEST CURB AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS (CD 79 -304 This was the date set for receiving bids for Community Development Project 79 -304, curb and sidewalk improvements on Blaine, Allen and Sherman Streets between California and Lindsey Streets. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of.notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Ziolkowski Construction, Inc 1005 South Lafayette Blvd. South Bend, Indiana $97,188.25 Arco Engineering Construction 705 S. Beiger Street Mishawaka, Indiana $78,200.00 Batteast Construction Co., Inc. 430 East LaSalle Avenue. South Bend, Indiana $101,570.75 Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, non - collusion affidavit was in ;order and a bid bond in the 'amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. Bid was signed by William Ziekle, non - collusion affidavit was in order and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. Bid was signed by Robert V. Batteast,1 non- collusion affidavit was in order, and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. Rieth -Riley Constr. Co., Inc. Bid was signed by Richard D. P. 0. Box 1775 Ruhlman, non- collusion affidavit South Bend, Indiana was in order, and a bid bond in $94,925.30 the amount of 5% was submitted. McIntyre & Jones Construction Bid was signed by Kenneth A. 2526 West 6th Street McIntyre, non - collusion affidavit Mishawaka, Indiana was in order, and a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid was submitted. $124,464.05 Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation:' 1
