REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 23. 1980 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, June 23, 1980, by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph <br />E. Kernan present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also <br />present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the minutes of the regular meeting of June 16, 1980, were approved <br />as submitted. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon stated that a recommendation concerning the granting of <br />easements for the purpose of permitting below grade encroachments <br />associated with the garage portion of First Bank Center would be <br />considered by the Board at this meeting. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the matter was added <br />to the agenda after the taxi license denial. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - NORTHWEST CURB AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS (CD 79 -304 <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Community Development <br />Project 79 -304, curb and sidewalk improvements on Blaine, Allen <br />and Sherman Streets between California and Lindsey Streets. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of.notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Ziolkowski Construction, Inc <br />1005 South Lafayette Blvd. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />$97,188.25 <br />Arco Engineering Construction <br />705 S. Beiger Street <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />$78,200.00 <br />Batteast Construction Co., Inc. <br />430 East LaSalle Avenue. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />$101,570.75 <br />Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />;order and a bid bond in the <br />'amount of 5% of the bid was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by William Ziekle, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a bid bond in the <br />amount of 5% of the bid was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Robert V. <br />Batteast,1 non- collusion affidavit <br />was in order, and a bid bond in <br />the amount of 5% of the bid was <br />submitted. <br />Rieth -Riley Constr. Co., Inc. Bid was signed by Richard D. <br />P. 0. Box 1775 Ruhlman, non- collusion affidavit <br />South Bend, Indiana was in order, and a bid bond in <br />$94,925.30 the amount of 5% was submitted. <br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Bid was signed by Kenneth A. <br />2526 West 6th Street McIntyre, non - collusion affidavit <br />Mishawaka, Indiana was in order, and a bid bond in <br />the amount of 5% of the bid was <br />submitted. <br />$124,464.05 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and <br />recommendation:' <br />1 <br />
