REGULAR MEETING JUNE 16, 1980 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SCARIFICATION AND PAVING PROJECT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for scarification and <br />paving of various streets within the city as follows: <br />Scarification and repaving of: <br />Indiana Avenue from Swygart to Olive <br />Diamond Avenue from Lincolnway West to Portage <br />Elwood Avenue from Portage to Olive <br />Riverside Drive from Angela to California <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. Bid was signed by Thomas 0. <br />24358 State Road 23 Walsh, non - collusion affidavit <br />South Bend, Indiana was in order and a bid bond in <br />the amount of 5% of the bid <br />was submitted. <br />$222,222.05 <br />Rieth -Riley Construction <br />P. 0. Box 1775 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />$227,127.67 <br />Bid was signed by Richard D. <br />Ruhlman, non- collusion affidavit <br />was in order and a bid bond in <br />the amount of 5% of the bid <br />was submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - DE -ICING MATERIAL (LIgUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE) <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for liquid calcium chloride <br />for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Pierceton Equipment <br />P. 0. Box 233 <br />Laketon, Indiana <br />50,000 gallons or less - <br />Bid was signed by Paul F. Beebe, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a bid bond in the <br />amount of 10% of the bid was <br />submitted. <br />Liquid Calcium Chloride $.2874/gal <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the bid was referred to the Street Department for review and recom- <br />mendation. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - INDIANA CABLEVISION PETITION TO INCREASE RATES <br />Mr. McMahon announced that this was the public hearing on the <br />proposed increase by Indiana Cablevision as follows: <br />The following is an outline of our proposed new rates for South <br />Bend. Please note that although the consumer price index has <br />increased by 18% over the past seventeen (17) months, our <br />increase for basic rates is only 15.4 %. <br />u <br />1 <br />1 <br />
