er.5
REGULAR MEETING JUNE 10, 1980
APPROVAL OF ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH
The application of Jan Maciulski, Eckankar, for permission to
operate a food booth during the Ethnic Festival was again considered
by the Board. Ms. Mikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza Coordinator,
stated that the Board had previously turned down the application
since it was felt the food was not of an ethnic origin. Since that
time, Ms. Dobski stated that she had been informed the group had
already spent approximately $2,000 on materials for operation of
the booth. After a brief discussion, Mr. Kernan made a motion
to approve the application.because of the fact that the applicant
had already expended a considerable amount of money, subject to
the necessary insurance, and with the understanding that the
applicant realize that approval was.for the 1980 Ethnic Festival
only and would not set a precedent for coming years. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Hill and carried.
AIR FORCE DISPLAY MOVED TO "CENTURY CENTER PARKING LOT
Ms. Mikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza Coordinator, explained that Century
Center would be having a public display from June 13 through July 13,
1980, for Aviation Month, and the 'Chamber of Commerce and Air Force
officials felt it would be more appropriate for the display of the
Air Force fighter air craft, which had previously been approved
for the Baer's block of the Plaza for June 25 through July 6, 1980,
to be located in the Century Center Parking lot. Ms. Dobski stated
that the Century Center lot was one of the locations considered
originally; however, it had been felt the Baer's block was a more
natural flow down the block from the Ethnic Festival booths. She
stated that she had conferred with the Bureau of.Traffic and Lighting
and Mr. Wadzinski had approved the relocation of the display to
Century Center. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr.
Hill and carried, the display was approved for the Century Center
parking lot, subject to concurrence of the Century Center Board
of Managers. Ms. Dobski was requested to contact Brian Hedman
concerning this matter.
REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY (10-00--110'0—BLOCK OAK STREET)
A request for a block party on July 4, 1980, between the hours of
2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the 1000 -1100 blocks of Oak Street was
received from Mrs. Linda Johnson, 1015 West Oak.
