South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –June 4, 2010

6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)

B. Airport Economic Development Area

(3) Resolution No. 2694 related to acquisition
of property in the Airport Economic
Development Area. (1520 S. Scott St.)

CRN.2694
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by
OMMISSION APPROVED ESOLUTION O
RELATED TO ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY IN THE
Mr. Varner and unanimously carried, the
AEDA.
IRPORT CONOMIC EVELOPMENT REA
Commission approved Resolution No. 2694
(1520S.SS.)
COTT T
related to acquisition of property in the
Airport Economic Development Area. (1520
S. Scott St.)

(4) Staff report on Blackthorn Golf Course
van lease.

Mr. Inks noted that the Commission was
previously apprised of the need for a van for
Blackthorn Golf Course. The current van’s
lease expired in May. The van is used to
support course operations, including shuttling
guests and volunteers for outings and
tournaments, moving tables and chairs for
hosted events, trips to the bank, etc. Staff
believes it is appropriate for the staff to have
a van. Kitson and Partners have agreed that
there will be no personal use of the van.

The lease term is 36 months with payments
of $387.40 per month. This payment is
included in the current golf course budget.
The Lease does include language concerning
charges for late payments (paragraph 25).
Mr. Inks noted that in the past staff has
indicated that city policy does not allow a
lease that contains a clause for late fees for
late payments. The rationale for allowing the
late charges is the waiving of the excess
mileage charge for the old van. This charge
would have been $2,542.24. The full charge
9
