interest in the project. <br />A fundraiser is being planned to help fund this project. A blues and ribs festival is being <br />proposed for next summer. Several sponsorships have been explored and three national <br />blues bands have been contacted about participating. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII.Comments by the Zoo Director <br /> <br />1. Mr. DeRosa requested the Board award the quote from Brown & Brown for $37,591 <br />for the East Barn project. Dr. Kelly made a motion to award the quote for the East Barn <br />project to Brown and Brown in the amount of $37,591. Mr. Mullins seconded the motion <br />and it was approved. <br />2. Dr. Carol Bradford, the Zoo’s vet, has resigned to take a position in New Mexico. A <br />local consulting vet will be used until a full time replacement can be found. <br />3. The concessions and gift shop manager position has been interviewed. That will be <br />decided soon. <br />4. The USDA inspected the butterfly exhibit recently. <br />5. Zoo Boo was held recently and 10,305 attended during the three days. <br />Mr. Goodrich commented on the declining attendance and that approximately one half of <br />the guests were unpaid, many because they were Zoo Society members, and that this <br />contributed to the operating deficit. Mr. DeRosa said they have been meeting with the <br />Zoo Society to discuss this problem. <br /> <br /> <br />IX.Comments by the Maintenance Superintendent <br /> <br />1. Mr. Dyszkiewicz requested that after reviewing the quotes, the Conservatory <br />mechanical project be awarded to OJS for $74,970. <br />Mr. Mullins made a motion to award the quote to OJS in the amount of $74,970. Dr. <br />Kelly seconded the motion and it was passed. <br />2. Leaf pick up is going well. <br />3. Leaf pick up in the parks is on schedule. <br />4. The lights from Coveleski Stadium are at the maintenance garage and will be used in <br />Boland Park. <br />5. Boilers are being serviced and turned on for the season. <br />6. Trades staff is doing repairs in the parks. <br />7. Graffiti removal is ongoing. Several areas have been hit hard. <br />Director St. Clair requested that Mr. Dyszkiewicz send him the locations so he can keep <br />the Police Chief informed. <br /> <br /> <br />X.Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br /> <br />1. Mr. Nowacki commented that the season is winding down. September was slow, but <br />October was a good month. <br />2. Studebaker was shut down on November 1. Elbel will close on December 1.
