400 <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 5, 1979 <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the budgeted amount for Street Materials <br />for 1979 is $550,000 and it appears that the bids are about <br />ten per cent higher than last year. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, trie bids were <br />referred to the Bureau of Streets for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT SNORKEL <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for one Snorkel for the <br />Fire Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read:' <br />Midwest Fire and Safety Company Bid was signed by Thomas <br />Indianapolis, Indiana Frederick, non- collusion <br />affidavit was in order and <br />a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - One Midwest American LaFrance 85 Foot <br />Snorkel $209,473.00 <br />Less Trade -in 20,000.00 <br />$189,374.00 <br />Hammerly Custom Productions, Inc. Bid was signed by Robert <br />'Shartlesville Pennsylvania Esserman, non- collusion <br />affidavit was in order <br />and a bid bond was submitted. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone advised the Board that a bid <br />bond was submitted with the bid but a certified check is required, <br />since the bidder is from out of state. He noted that the Board <br />could allow a reasonable time for a certified check to be submitted <br />to replace the bid bond. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board agreed to allow <br />a twenty -four hour period for the bidder to replace the bid bond <br />with the required certified check. If the check is submitted <br />within twenty -four hours, the bid can be considered. <br />Shamrock Emergency Vehicles Bid was signed by B. S. Tinkham, <br />South Bend, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone noted that the power of attorney <br />attached to the bid bond did not list the attorney who executed <br />the bond. Mr. Tinkham was present and advised the Board that a <br />proper power of attorney would be submitted to the Board office <br />today. <br />Bid - One Peter Pirsch Model 88- #AP -85 $211,176.00 <br />Less Trade -In 15,000.00 <br />Net 196,176.00 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried the bids were referred to the Fire Department for review <br />and recommendation. <br />
