Im REGULAR MEETING BE IT RESOLVED: FEBRUARY 12, 1979 1. That the Board of Works orders the Denartment of Public Works to prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, secure the necessary right -of -way and easements, by the doing of all acts necessary and desirable to the acquisition by gift, purchase or condemnation. 2. Secure permits, appropriations and to construct certain street improvements for Miami Street Viaduct lowering. BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITE' OF SOUTH BEND s/ Patrick M. McMahon s/ Peter H. REQUEST TO DESIGNATE NO PARKING AREAS AT IUSB RECEIVED The Board received a request from Indiana University at South Bend to designate no parking areas at two locations near the university; one on the east side of Esther Street, between Mishawaka Avenue and Ruskin Street and one on the west side of Greenlawn, between Mishawaka Avenue and Northside Boulevard. It was noted that the request is being made to improve traffic flow around the buildings. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. REQUEST FOR DAFFODIL SALE APPROVED The American Cancer Society requested that the Board extend approval given for their Annual Daffodil Sale to March 31. Approval had been given for the sale.on Friday, March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in front of the County -City Building, on River Bend Plaza, in front of the American National Bank and the First Bank and Trust Company. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the request to extend the sale to Saturday, March 31. HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS APPROVED Requests were received from John Pecsi, 1709 S. Douglas Street, and Catherine Schulz, 604 E. Farneman, for handicapped parking permits. Both had permits last year and have permanent disability statements on file with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the applications were approved and referred to the Deputy City Controller's Office for issuance of the permits.
