Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the Assessment Roll was filed and set for <br />public hearing on February 26, 1979. <br />CLAIMS APPROVED <br />Michael L. Vance, Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board <br />Claim Docket Numbers 1298 through 1833 and recommended approval. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 1298 through 1833 <br />and directed that checks for payment be issued. <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FILED - COLE ASSOCIATES <br />A Certificate of Insurance written on behalf of Cole Associates, Inc. <br />was submitted to-- -the, Board:. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the certificate was ordered <br />filed. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage report for the period-,January 12 to 25 <br />was submitted to the Board. The report indicated nine outages. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded.-.by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the report was ordered filed. <br />CHARLES HOWELL RE: DANCE HALL AND POOL HALL APPLICATION <br />Charles Howell was present and asked the Board about Code requirements <br />and procedures for filing an application for a public dance hall, <br />pool hall and restaurant. Mr. Howell indicated he has been <br />negotiating with the A. & P. Food Store regarding possible leasing <br />of an empty building at Eddy and Howard Street but said he has not <br />been able to get information regarding the procedure to follow. <br />He also asked why he was told this would be an adult business <br />since it is planned for teen agers. Mr. Brunner advised Mr. Howell <br />that a public dance hall and pool hall are not classified as adult <br />uses but are considered controlled uses under the zoning ordinance. <br />Any such application must be reviewed with respect to the controlled <br />use provisions. Mr. Howell asked how the measurement of one thousand <br />feet referred to in the zoning ordinance is determined. He was <br />informed that the Board of Zoning Appeals is reviewing that matter <br />and will adopt a policy to be followed regarding such measurements. <br />Mr. Howell was advised that any application filed will be governed <br />by the Board of Zoning Appeals policy as adopted and will be reviewed <br />by the City in the usual manner for compliance with Code requirements. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m. <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion that the meeting be reconvened at 10:25 a.m. <br />Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Mr. McMahon noted that Mr. Stancati had reviewed the bids received <br />for Janitorial Services for the Police Department and Jail and wished <br />to request Board action to award the bid today since the present <br />contract expires on January 31, 1979. Mr. Stancati recommended that <br />the low bid of Servicemasters Building Services, Inc. of $15,591.00 <br />be accepted for the period February 1, 1979 through January 31, 1980. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved and the bid awarded. <br />
