3U0 <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS JANUARY 15, 1979 <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />submitted to the Board the following recommendations for the <br />installation of traffic control devices: <br />A. Install "No Parking - 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M." in the 3000 <br />block Fredrickson Street, North Side Only, upon the petition <br />of residents of the block. <br />B. Install "No Parking" LaMonte Terrace and Lafayette, to supplement <br />the yellow curb area and adjustment of zones to provide sight <br />clearance for a school crossing and four -way stop. <br />C. Install "No Parking -Tow Away Zone" on Bronson Street, both sides, <br />from a point approximately 20 feet East of Lafayette to a <br />point 60 feet 1 East 'Of Lafayette, to extend the existing <br />No Parking -Tow kway Zone. The building at the location is to <br />be used as a steel warehouse with Semi -Truck delivery. <br />D. Install "No Parking This Side" on the South Side of 300 West <br />LaMonte Terrace:- 'This``is art annual installation for the winter <br />season and will be removed in the spring. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon,'seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried <br />the recommendations were approved. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period January 4 through 9 <br />was submitted to the Board. The report indicated forty -six outages. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the report was ordered filed. <br />RESIDENTIAL EMERGENCY CONDITION DECLARED BY MAYOR PETER J. NEMETH <br />Mayor Peter J. Nemeth was present and issued the following statement: <br />"Mayor Peter J. Nemeth today declared a RESIDENTIAL EMERGENCY <br />condition in the City of South Bend, effective at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, <br />January 16, 1979. The declaration of a RESIDENTIAL EMERGENCY means <br />that parking is permitted on all city streets designated as snow <br />routes. However, to facilitiate snow removal efforts on other city <br />streets NOT designated as snow routes, the following parking ban <br />will be in effect as of 8:00 a.m., January 16th. <br />On Tuesday, January 16th, parking is banned between the <br />hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on all streets running <br />East and West. <br />On Wednesday, January 17th, parking is banned between the <br />hours of 8:00 a.m, and 4:30 p.m. on all streets running <br />North and South. <br />These parking restrictions will remain in effect on a rotating <br />basis until the RESIDENTIAL EMERGENCY is cancelled., Any vehicle <br />left parked on a city street in violation of these parking <br />restrictions will be ticketed and towed. In addition, pushing snow <br />onto city streets is prohibited. According to city ordinance, such <br />violations will result in a $50.00 fine. <br />
