REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 8, 1979 353 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, January. 8, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry.A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the January 2, 1979 <br />meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes <br />be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and <br />it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted receipt of a letter from the Park Avenue <br />Neighborhood Association following posting of the meeting agenda <br />and he made a motion that the letter be added to the agenda. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION EQUIPMENT - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Closed Circuit Television <br />Phase III Equipment and for Mini Closed Circuit Television. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following aids were opened: <br />Communications Systems, Inc. <br />1338 Mishawaka Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone reviewed bids submitted by <br />Communications Systems, Inc. on both items and advised the Board that <br />no bid bonds or certified checkes were submitted with the bids <br />as required in the specifications. He noted that the bids were <br />not responsive to the bid request and recommended rejection. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board rejected the bids and authorized advertising for bids <br />for both items. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICES. FACILITY <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Janitorial Services <br />for the Municipal Services Facility. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Associated Cleaning Services Bid was signed by Thomas E. Raffier, <br />South Bend, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check was submitted <br />with the bid. <br />Bid - $24,842.40 <br />Maintenance Systems, Inc. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $25,200.00 <br />ABC Janitorial Services <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - $27,360.00 <br />Bid was signed by Richard W. Johnson, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Graham M. Henry, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />
