KE <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 2, 1979 3 U <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the December 18 meeting <br />had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved <br />as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted that a resolution concerning Discovery Hall Museum <br />was submitted to the Board after the posting of the meeting agenda <br />and he made a motion that the resolution be added to the agenda. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried, <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 1, 1979 <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone advised the Board that he had <br />prepared a resolution recognizing and acknowledging the existence <br />and operation of Discovery Hall Museum. The resolution is <br />required in conjunction with a grant application being made by <br />Richard Welch for Discovery Hall. Mr. Crone recommended adoption <br />of the resolution. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Mullen and carried, the following resolution was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1, 1979 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, RECOGNIZING AND <br />ACKNOWLEDGING THE EXISTENCE OF THE DISCOVERY HALL <br />14USEUM AS A CULTURAL, HISTORICAL AND INDUSTRIAL <br />LANDMARK WHICH DISPLAYS AND MEMORIALIZES THE <br />C011MJNITY'S PRODUCTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works recognizes and acknowledges <br />the Discovery Hall Museum as a cultural, historical and industrial <br />landmark which displays and memorializes the community's products <br />and achievements, including, among other features, the Studebaker <br />Historic Vehicle Collection. <br />WHEREAS, the Discovery Hall Museum lends educational and cultural <br />pride by its permanent embodiment and memorialization of the <br />community's industrial and technological achievements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana that: <br />SECTION 1. The Board of <br />recognizes the Discovery <br />institution and strongly <br />people of this City of t' <br />cultural and educational <br />the achievements of this <br />community pride. <br />Public Works of the City of South Bend <br />Hall Museum as a cultural and educational <br />encourages the continued support by the <br />ze Discovery Hall Museum as a permanent <br />institution which displays and memorializes <br />community and acts as a symbol of <br />SECTION II. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from <br />and after its adoption by the Board of Public Works and approval <br />by the Mayor, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Patrick M.
