315 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 20, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 1978 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone was also present. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that a letter from Building Commissioner John <br />E. DeLee was received after the posting of the meeting agenda and <br />he made a motion that the letter be added at this time. Mr. <br />Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />RESIGNATION OF JOHN E. DE LEE ACCEPTED <br />John E. DeLee, Building Commissioner, submitted to the Board his <br />letter of resignation as Building Commiss- ioner, effective December <br />15, 1978. Mr. DeLee noted that he had enjoyed his two and one - <br />half years with the City but, based on his own career ambitions <br />and the needs of his family, had accepted the position of Assistant <br />Director of Utilities with the University of Notre Dame. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board accepted, with regret, the resignation of Mr. DeLee and <br />extended appreciation to him for his service to the City and to the <br />community. <br />MINU'T'ES APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that the minutes of the November 14 meeting <br />had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be accepted as <br />submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF PARKING METERS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the sale of parking <br />meters. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />City of Plymouth 100 meters at $10.00 each - $1000.00 <br />Plymouth, Indiana <br />Eugene Andert 200 meters at $3.00 each.- $600.00 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Mr. Andert noted the meters would be used <br />in conjunction with the Junior Achievement Program. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the <br />bids were referred to the City Controller and Parking Meter Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />ASSESSMENT ROLL APPROVED - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3463 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll <br />with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3463 for the vacation of the <br />east -west alley north of Prairie Avenue and west of Magnolia Street. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />There was no one present to speak on the Assessment Roll and no <br />written remonstrances were filed with the Board. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Assessment <br />Roll listing $0.00 net benefits and $0.00 net damages was approved <br />and said resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and said <br />proceedings closed. <br />
