232 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 28, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 1978 by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy <br />City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />August 21 had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be <br />approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />Mr. McMahon reported review of the minutes of the special meeting <br />held on August 23 and made -a motion they be approved as submitted. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. Mr. McMahon reported <br />review of the minutes of the special meeting held on August 25 and <br />made a motion for approval.. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it <br />carried. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted that a notice from the Solid Waste Department and <br />a request for a Block Party were .received after posting of the meeting <br />agenda and he made a motion the items be added to the agenda. Mr. <br />Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />NOTIFICATION OF SOLID WASTE PICK -UP <br />The Bureau of Solid Waste notifed the Board that, although Monday, <br />Labor Day, is a holiday for City Employees, regular pick -up will,be <br />made by the Bureau of Solid Waste. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the notification was ordered <br />filed. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED <br />James Caldwell submitted a request to the Board to close Woodlawn <br />from Parkview to Hollywood Place, on Sunday, September 3 from 2:00 p.m. <br />to 8:00 p.m. for a Block Party. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved, subject <br />to approval of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - IRONWOOD- JEFFERSON INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the Ironwood - Jefferson <br />Intersection Improvements, R & S 7804. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County <br />News., which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />O'Neal Trucking Company Bid was signed by Julius O'Neal, Jr., <br />South Bend, Indiana non - collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $97.140.45 <br />Arco Engineering Construction Co. Bid was signed by William Zirkle, <br />Mishawaka,,Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $72,440.25 <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. <br />South Bend, Indiana Bid was signed by Tom 0. Walsh, <br />non- collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $86,173.00 <br />
