222 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 14, 1978 <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - 1300 E. WASHINGTON <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported to the Boai?d that a <br />request to block the 1300 block E. Washington on August 16 <br />from 5:00 p.m. to midnight for a Block Party had been reviewed <br />with the Police Department and approval was recommended. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />Board approved the Block Party. <br />FOUR -WAY STOP APPROVED - CORBY AND T117YCKENHAM <br />The Board received a report from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />regarding ongoing studies of traffic volume and accident rate at <br />the intersection of Corby and Twyckenham. The studies note an <br />increase in collisions over a twelve -month period and speed checks <br />and minimum.volume meet the warrants for installation of stop signs. <br />Therefore, the Bureau recommended installation of a multi -way stop <br />at the intersection of Corby and Twyckenham. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation <br />was approved <br />REQUEST FOR REPORT ON STUDY OF CORBY -NOTRE DAME INTERSECTION <br />Mr. Brunner inquired as to the status of traffic studies made of <br />the Corby -Notre Dame intersection with regard to the possible <br />installation of stop signs. The Board directed that Mr. Wadzinski <br />be asked to submit an update on studies made of that intersection. <br />TEMPORARY STOP AT ANGELA AND NORTH SHORE APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />advised the Board that his Bureau has been observing the inter- <br />section of Angela and North Shore since t -he detour was initiated <br />for the Angela Hill reconstruction. Because of the volume count, <br />it was recommended that temporary four -way stops be installed at the <br />intersection of Angela and North Shore for the remainder of the <br />construction period. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the recommendation. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - 200 BLOCK EAST NAVARRE <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported to the Board that a <br />request for the closing of a portion of the 200 block East Navarre <br />Street on Saturay, August 19 from 4:00 p.m. to midnight was <br />reviewed with the Police.Department. Approval is recommended with <br />the stipulation that the street be closed from Riverside Drive to <br />St. Joseph Street, to eliminate vehicles having to exit through <br />alleys because of the street closing. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation <br />was approved. <br />CLOSING OF CHAPIN STREET ON AUGUST 19 APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported to the Board that the <br />request to close Chapin Street from Calvert to Bruce on Saturday, <br />August 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. had been reviewed with <br />the Police Department. This is an annual event and approval is <br />recommended. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the street closing was approved. <br />J <br />1 <br />
