FrIM
UnaL
REGULAR MEETING JULY 17, 1978
REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN AT KETTERING AND 29TH
Councilman Roger Parent advised the Board that residents have
requested the installation of a stop sign at the intersection of
29th and Kettering to stop traffic on 29th Street. Mr. Parent's
letter indicated that traffic is fast in this location and a number
of drivers fishtail and drive over the curb on Kettering Drive.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and
carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
Lighting for review and recommendation.
REQUEST TO DISPOSE OF ADDING MACHINE APPROVED
The Clerk of the Board requested permission to dispose of an obsolete
Monroe Adding Machine, City Inventory Number 273, and delete it
from the Board of Public Works inventory. The machine is inoperable
and will be turned over to the Controller's Office for use as a
trade -in. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner
and carried, the request was approved.
RENT -A -TEEN REQUEST TO STENCIL HOUSE NUMBERS DENIED
The Legal Department reviewed the request of the Youth Services
Bureau to allow the Rent -A -Teens to stencil house numbers on the
steps of residences in South Bend and, based on the ?potential
liability, recommended denial. Mr. Brunner commented that Indiana
law requires that children under 16 years of age secure work permits
when they do work of this sort. Such work permits would have to be
obtained from the residents before the painting is done. He
explained that the Youth Services Bureau does not pay the individuals
they are paid by the home owners. The Legal Department believes
that the liability to the City would be so great that the project
should not be commenced. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded
by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request of the Youth Services
Bureau was denied.
FILING OF FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL - CREST MANOR SANITARY SEWERS
David A.
