Ito <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 10, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 1978 by Chairman Pro -Tem Peter <br />H. Mullen in the absence of President Patrick M. McMahon, with <br />Mr. Mullen and Mr. Brunner present. Deputy City Attorney James <br />A. Masters was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes <br />June 26 had been reviewed and he made <br />be accepted as submitted. Mr. Mullen <br />carried. Mr. Mullen reported review <br />meeting held on July 5 and moved for <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />of the regular meeting on <br />a motion that the minutes <br />seconded the motion and it <br />of the minutes of the special <br />their acceptance. Mr. Brunner <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED -- REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Mullen noted that a request for a Block Party was received <br />after posting of the meeting agenda and he made a motion that it <br />be considered by the Board at this time. Mr. Brunner seconded the <br />motion and it carried. The request was from Mrs. Gary Veatch <br />and was for the closing of the 2200 block Parkview Place on Saturday, <br />July 29 from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ROOF REPAIRS TO FIRE STATION #3 <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for repairs to the roof <br />of Fire Station #3 at McKinley and Greenlawn. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. There were no <br />bids submitted. The Clerk advised the Board.that eight roofing <br />contractors had the specifications. The contractors were contacted <br />by telephone on July 7 and only one expressed any interest in <br />submitting a bid at that time. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board referred the matter <br />to Patrick McMahon for discussion with the Fire Department as to <br />appropriate action in securing a contract. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids on fifteen vehicles <br />offered for sale by the City of South Bend. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and in <br />the Tri - County News which were found to be sufficient.
