169 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 26, 1978 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 1978 by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney James A. Masters was also present. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Board add to the agenda a <br />notification from the Solid Waste Department regarding the pick -up <br />schedule for July 4 and a public hearing on Assessment Roll No. 3457. <br />Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the June 19, <br />1978 meeting and he made a motion that the minutes be approved as <br />submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried. <br />SOLID WASTE PICK -UP ANNOUNCED FOR FOURTH OF JULY WEEK <br />Joseph S. Klebosits, Manager of the Bureau of Solid Waste, sent <br />notification to the Board that regular pick -up will be made by <br />the Solid Waste Department on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, <br />holidays for City employees. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the notification was ordered filed. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SCARIFICATION AND PAVING OF VARIOUS STREETS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Scarification and Paving <br />of various streets. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were <br />found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />Arco Engineering Construction Co. <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Base Bid - $385,893.50 <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Base Bid $306,432.00 <br />Rieth -Riley Construction Co. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Base Bid - $328,696.50 <br />Bid was signed by William D. Zirkle, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Thomas 0. Walsh, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Chester L. Skwarcan, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Bureau of Engineering for review and <br />recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - AIR COMPRESSOR FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for an Air Compressor for <br />the Fire Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient.
