135 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 30, 1978 <br />BIKE- A -THON DATE APPROVED - AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION <br />The Board received a request from the American Diabetes <br />Association to hold their annual Bike -A -Thon on Sunday, October <br />1, 1978. The request noted that there was a Bike -A -Thon <br />scheduled for October 8 and the guidelines require two weeks <br />between events. However, the Association noted that this is a <br />state -wide event to be coordinated in all areas on that date. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Board approved the date of October 1 for the American <br />Diabetes Association Bike -A -Thon and referred the, reque,sa' arndc-the <br />route to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY - OWNED PROPERTY FILED <br />The Board received an inquiry from Lester Martin regarding <br />possible purchase of a lot at 711 Marietta Street and from <br />Mr. & Mrs. James Clark regarding possible purchase of a lot at <br />2530 Bertrand Street, both city -owned lots. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the requests were <br />filed and referred to the Department of Parks, Redevelopment and <br />Engineering for review and a determination as to whether the lots <br />should be retained for any purpose. <br />REQUEST TO SELL PARKING METERS APPROVED <br />Joseph Paszli, Manager, Parking Garages, requested permission to <br />sell 65 obsolete parking meters at the Garage Sale to be held <br />on Saturday, June 10 at the Colfax Parking Garage. Estimated <br />value of the meters is $7.50 each. Richard Welch, Director of <br />Discovery Hall, noted that he has requested that two parking <br />meters be donated to the Discovery Hall Museum and Mr. Mullen <br />said he saw no problem with.that. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, <br />seconded by Mr.- "Brunner and carried, the Board approved the <br />request, with the suggestion that Mr. Paszli review the selling <br />price of the meters with Mr. Mullen prior to the sale. <br />PETITION FILED FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS ON LEEPER AND STANFIELD <br />A petition signed by approximately 100 residents of the Leeper Avenue - <br />Stanfield Street area was filed with the Board. The petition <br />requests traffic control signs on Leeper Avenue and Stanfield Street, <br />between Angela Boulevard and North Shore and Howard. Because of <br />the number of children in the area, it was suggested that speed <br />limit signs, stop signs and other warning signs be posted. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />petition was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />SIGNING OF TITLE SHEET - BASNEY FORD COMPLEX DRAINAGE PLAN <br />The Bureau of Design and Administration submitted to the Board the <br />title sheet approving the plans for the Basney Ford Complex <br />Drainage Plan. David A. Wells, Manager of the Bureau of Design and <br />Administration, explained to the Board that this is a private <br />development between Basney Ford and property owners along the K -Mart <br />property. Plans have been submitted and approved and he recommended <br />that the title sheet be signed. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the title sheet approving the <br />plans was signed. <br />
