REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 30, 1978 <br />12 `j <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 1978 by Chairman Pro -Tem Peter H. <br />Mullen, in the absence of President Patrick McMahon, with Mr. Mullen <br />and Mr. Brunner in attendance. Deputy City Attorneys Terry Crone <br />and James Masters were also present. <br />MINUTES OF MAY 22 MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the '_`day 22 meeting of the <br />Board had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be approved. <br />Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - STREET SWEEPERS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for two Street Sweepers <br />for the Bureau of Streets. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Seastrom, Inc. <br />Indianapolis, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by James R. Hadley, <br />non - collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - Two Vac -All Street Sweepers, Model E10 - $149,070.00 <br />Less Trade -In 10,000.00 <br />Net - $139,070.00 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bid was referred to John Stancati, Director of Utilities, for <br />review and recommendation. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - REVENUE SHARING APPROPRIATION FOR POLICE RADIOS <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on a revenue <br />sharing appropriation request for $154,000.00 for Police Department <br />Radio Equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. In accordance with the guidelines established for <br />such revenue sharing requests, information about this public hearing <br />was forwarded to the following senior citizen groups with the request <br />that the notice be published for the members: Foster Grandparents, <br />Hansel Neighborhood Center, Harvest House Centers, Howard Park <br />Senior Citizens' Center, R.E.A.L. Services, Retired Senior Volunteer <br />Program and Senior Citizens' group of LaSalle Park. There were no <br />citizens present who wished to speak on the matter and no written <br />comments were filed with the Board. Mr. Mullen noted that the amount <br />of the revenue sharing appropriation will be substantially reduced <br />prior to submission of the ordinance to the Common Council. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />public hearing was closed and the information will be transmitted <br />to the Common Council along with the minutes of this public hearing. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3457 CONFIRMED - ASSESSMENT ROLL FILED <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3457 for the vacation of the North -South alley <br />located between Lots 4, 5 and 6 and 103 of Oak Park 4th Addition, <br />between Miami Street and Dale, from Donald Street south to the <br />first east -west alley. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. Thomas Gibson was present on behalf <br />of the petitioners, the St. Joseph Bank & Trust Company. Mr. Gibson <br />displayed a drawing of the area involved and said the purpose of the <br />
