12( <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 22, 1978 <br />SPEED LIMIT SIGNS AMENDED - PIERRE NAVARRE PARK AREA <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />reported to the Board that 25 MPH When Children Present speed limit <br />signs were approved by the Board on Lombardy, Ford and Scenic at <br />the request of the Far West Neighborhood Association. The Association <br />has expressed concern over the wording "when children present" because <br />of heavy park traffic. Mr. Wadzinski recommended that the approval <br />be amended to eliminate the words "When School Children Present" <br />on the speed limit signs on Lombardy, from Sample to Huron, on Ford, <br />from Lombardy to Bloomfield, and on Scenic, from Lombardy to Ford, <br />noting that this is a ninety -day experimental installation. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved. <br />WEST SIDE VETERANS' MEMORIAL DAY PARADE APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting advised the Board that the <br />request of the West Side Veterans' Memorial Day Committee to hold <br />a parade on Monday, May 29, 1978 at 9:30 a.m., beginning at Olive <br />and Ford Street had been reviewed with the Police Department and <br />approval is recommended. The parade route will proceed on Ford <br />from Olive to Lombardy and on Lombardy to Huron Street. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded.by Mr. Mullen and carried, the parade <br />was approved, subject to the filing of a Certificate of Insurance. <br />STREET SERVICES APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported to the Board that the <br />request of Missionary Dora Lottie to hold religious Street Services <br />on the sidewalk at Western Avenue and Walnut Street, during the <br />month of June, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. <br />to 6:00 p.m., had been reviewed with the Police Department and approval <br />is recommended, with the stipulation that there be no obstruction <br />to pedestrian or vehicular traffic resulting from the services. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the recommendation as stated was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF CLAIMS <br />Michael L. Vance, Chief Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board <br />Claim Docket Numbers 9004 through 9617 and recommended approval. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 9004 through-9-6,17.-and-directed <br />that checks for payment be issued. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED <br />rlikki Dobski, River Bend Plaza Director, submitted to the Board the <br />following applications, along with her favorable recommendation. <br />A. Application of Greg Rosander to operate a Fruit Stand on the <br />Plaza, May through September. The Certificate of Insurance <br />was attached to the application and Mr. Rosander indicated <br />trash removal has been arranged and he will purchase the <br />necessary vendor's permit. The Board discussed the location <br />and appearance of the stand. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the application was approved, <br />for a location near the Foto Hut where there is an electrical <br />hook -up, subject to securing.the necessary Health Department <br />permit and providing the Board with a photograph of the proposed <br />stand or reaching a satisfactory arrangement with Mr. McMahon <br />regarding the stand. <br />
