104 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />MAY 1, 1978 <br />Mr. McMahon noted that there was a meeting of the Far West Side <br />Neighborhood Association with Captain Sweitzer and Ralph <br />Wadzinski and a number of requests for traffic control were made. <br />Councilman Richard Dombrowski was present on behalf of the Far <br />West Side Neighborhood Association and he advised the Board that <br />the residents are requesting lowered speed limits, no parking <br />signs and other traffic controls in the Belleville. Gardens area <br />in an effort to cut down on speeding motorcycles and cars in the <br />neighborhood.. Mr. Dombrowski noted that Belleville Park is,being <br />improved and activities expanded and this will increase the <br />traffic in the area. He urged the Board to take steps to approve <br />the requests of the residents for speed limits and controls. <br />Mr. McMahon noted that, as a result of the meeting, Ralph J. <br />Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting had <br />prepared a number of recommendations. They were submitted to the <br />Board as follows: <br />A. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign on Lombardy at Meadow Lane. <br />B. Install Stop Sign on Summit at Lombardy. <br />C. Remove Yield Sign on Parkway (NE Corner) at Lombardy.. <br />D. Install Speed Limit 25 MPH on Meadow Lane, from Birchwood <br />to Parkway. <br />E. Install No Parking Anytime on both sides of Meadow Lane, <br />75 feet east and west of its intersection at Lombardy. <br />F. Install Speed Limit 25 MPH on Parkway, Sample to Dogwood. <br />G. Install School Speed Limit 25 MPH When Children Present on <br />Lombardy, from Sample to Huron. <br />H. Install School Speed Limit 25 MPH When Children Present on <br />Scenic, from Lombardy to Ford. <br />I. Install School Speed Limit 25 MPH When Children Present on <br />Ford, from Lombardy to Bloomfield. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the installations and removal were approved. Mr. Brunner <br />asked if the Traffic Department would be enforcing the new <br />regulations. Mr. McMahon said that Captain Sweitzer was present <br />at the meeting and would send a radar unit into the area when the <br />new signage has been installed. Mr. Brunner requested that Captain <br />Sweitzer be advised that the Board is requesting continuing <br />enforcement of the traffic controls approved.at the request of.the <br />Far West Side Neighborhood Association. <br />CLAIMS APPROVED <br />Michael L. Vance, Deputy City Controller, submitted to the Board <br />Claim Docket Numbers 7604 through 8108 and recommended approval. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers 7604 through 8108 <br />and directed that checks for payment be issued. <br />J <br />1 <br />
