REGULAR MEETING . APRIL 24, 1978 <br />AGREEMENT WITH JOHN V. HUNT AS CONSULTANT APPROVED <br />An Agreement between the City of South Bend and John V. Hunt <br />providing for consultant services to the Bureau of Communications <br />was referred to the Legal Department for review. The agreement <br />covers a maximum of forty hours of work per month at a rate of <br />$8.25 per hour. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone reported that <br />he had reviewed the contract and it is acceptable. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />agreement was approved, subject to approval of the funding. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA REQUESTS APPROVED <br />Mikki Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the <br />Board the following list of activities on the Plaza and recommended <br />approval: <br />Thursday, May 4 - Dance Center Performance <br />Friday, May.5 - Two High School Bands <br />May 4, 5 and 6 Red Dye in the Fountains^ <br />May 6 - McDonald Puppet Show <br />May 6 - Disco Music provided by Cinnabar's <br />May 6 -.Auto Show, New Car Dealers (tentative) <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the Board approved all activities for the Robertson's Stage <br />Area, with the exception of the New Car Show. The Board requested <br />that if the-Auto Show is held, plans be coordinated with the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting for the location of the display. Approval <br />for all events.is subject to the filing of Certificates of Insurance <br />if required. <br />Robertson's Department Store submitted an application for a one -day <br />vendor's license to sell.sack _lunches in front of their.store on <br />Wednesday, April 26, in observance of Secretary's Day.. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon,, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the application <br />was approved subject to filing of the necessary Certificate of <br />Insurance and purchase of a City vending license. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED LOT AT 1350 E. SORIN STREET DENIED <br />The Board received an offer from Marion Donaldson to purchase a <br />city -owned lot at 1350 E. Sorin Street for $50.00. Mr. Donaldson <br />noted that this is a vacant lot which he has been maintaining. <br />The Board reviewed the of.fering.sheet for the lot and noted that <br />the off_ering.price.established following appraisal was $920.00. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried <br />the offer to purchase the city -owned lot at 1350 E. Sorin Street <br />for $50.00 was denied. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzi_nski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />submitted to the Board the following traffic control recommendations: <br />A. Install Stop Sign on Kaley at Bendix, in connection with new <br />Bendix Parking Lot. Upon motion made b_v Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />B. Install Stop-Sign on Kenwood at Bendix, in connection with new <br />Bendix Parking Lot. Upon motion made by Mr..McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />
