REGULAR MEETING . APRIL 24, 1978 AGREEMENT WITH JOHN V. HUNT AS CONSULTANT APPROVED An Agreement between the City of South Bend and John V. Hunt providing for consultant services to the Bureau of Communications was referred to the Legal Department for review. The agreement covers a maximum of forty hours of work per month at a rate of $8.25 per hour. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone reported that he had reviewed the contract and it is acceptable. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the agreement was approved, subject to approval of the funding. RIVER BEND PLAZA REQUESTS APPROVED Mikki Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted to the Board the following list of activities on the Plaza and recommended approval: Thursday, May 4 - Dance Center Performance Friday, May.5 - Two High School Bands May 4, 5 and 6 Red Dye in the Fountains^ May 6 - McDonald Puppet Show May 6 - Disco Music provided by Cinnabar's May 6 -.Auto Show, New Car Dealers (tentative) Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved all activities for the Robertson's Stage Area, with the exception of the New Car Show. The Board requested that if the-Auto Show is held, plans be coordinated with the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the location of the display. Approval for all events.is subject to the filing of Certificates of Insurance if required. Robertson's Department Store submitted an application for a one -day vendor's license to sell.sack _lunches in front of their.store on Wednesday, April 26, in observance of Secretary's Day.. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon,, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the application was approved subject to filing of the necessary Certificate of Insurance and purchase of a City vending license. REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED LOT AT 1350 E. SORIN STREET DENIED The Board received an offer from Marion Donaldson to purchase a city -owned lot at 1350 E. Sorin Street for $50.00. Mr. Donaldson noted that this is a vacant lot which he has been maintaining. The Board reviewed the of.fering.sheet for the lot and noted that the off_ering.price.established following appraisal was $920.00. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried the offer to purchase the city -owned lot at 1350 E. Sorin Street for $50.00 was denied. TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED Ralph J. Wadzi_nski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, submitted to the Board the following traffic control recommendations: A. Install Stop Sign on Kaley at Bendix, in connection with new Bendix Parking Lot. Upon motion made b_v Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation was approved. B. Install Stop-Sign on Kenwood at Bendix, in connection with new Bendix Parking Lot. Upon motion made by Mr..McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation was approved.
