W, <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 24, 1978 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT VEHICLE BIDS AWARDED SUBJECT TO FUNDING <br />John Baumgartner, Manager, Bureau of Streets, submitted to the <br />Board a recommendation to award the following Street Department <br />Vehicle bids: <br />Tandem Dump Truck - Bid Award to International Harvester at the <br />low bid price of $40,983.00, plus additional $299.00 option for <br />38,000 lb. suspension. <br />Street Sweeper - Bid award to Ries Equipment Company on their low <br />bid of $23,060.00: <br />Five Pick -Up Trucks - Bid award to Gates Chevrolet Company, low <br />and only'bidder, net price $20,705.00. <br />Three 1'Ton Platform Trucks - Bid award to Gates Chevrolet Company, <br />low and only bidder, net price - $18,402.00. <br />Wheel Loader Backhoe - Bid Award to A. H. Choitz, low bidder on <br />base bid and alternate bid, with alternate bid to be accepted at <br />$19;682.00. <br />Tandem Roller = Bid award to Stockberger Machinery, Inc., low bidder <br />within specifications at $19,995.00. <br />A review of all bids received was submitted to the Board along with <br />the recommendation. Upon motion.made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the bids as recommended above were <br />awarded, subject to approval of the funding. <br />CONTRACTUAL STREET SWEEPING.CONTRACT APPROVED <br />The Board received a recommendation from Patrick M. McMahon, Director <br />of Public Works and John Baumgartner, Manager of the Bureau of <br />Streets, that the bids for Contractual Street Sweeping had been <br />reviewed and an award should be made to the Ries Equipment Company <br />on their low bid of $138,240 for the one -year contract. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon,: seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the contract was awarded to the <br />Ries Equipment Company, subject to approval of the funding. <br />LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN ADAMS RE: BIDDING PROCEDURES REFERRED <br />The Board received a letter from <br />regarding the procedure followed <br />Contractual Street Sweeping with <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, <br />the letter was ordered filed and <br />for a response. <br />Councilman Mary Christine Adams <br />when a bid was submitted for <br />no bid bond or certified check. <br />seconded by Mr. McMahon and carried, <br />referred to the Legal Department <br />AGREEMENT WITH COLE ASSOCIATES APPROVED SUBJECT TO FUNDING <br />An Agreement between the City of South Bend and Cole Associates, Inc. <br />for design work for the signalization of thirteen.intersections <br />had been referred to the Legal Department for review. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry A. Crone reported that he had reviewed the contract <br />and found that the insurance provisions as listed in Section II do <br />not meet City requirements. He recommended that the- Section be <br />revised. Mr. McMahon noted that the contract amount for the <br />signalization design work is $31,500. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved <br />the contract, subject to revision of the insurance requirements and <br />approval of the funding. <br />1 <br />
